Something I have wanted to get into, but have yet to find the time to do so.

I am also afraid of watching Mercer, and realizing how far I have yet to go to become a great DM.

There are a number of things he does really, really well, but a few I'm not a huge fan of. So i like to look to him for inspiration, rather than emulation.

Agreed. I find his combats, for example, drag on. A big group like that needs to be encouraged to act quickly. Too many players need to be resituated when it’s their turn, and then they need to think through the ramifications of this “new” information. Yawn! :)

I will probably be following CR if I have time. I usually watch a bit while eating or browsing the internet, but I did find the first episode to be fairly boring. Mercer is eloquent and a great DM though, even if I think that he's also too kind to the players. I hope he won't become too scared of really punishing them just because a lot of people are following. If they do something stupid, they should die.

Marisha ruined the previous campaign for me. So much dumb randomness. I hope it will be better this time around.

Also, did Travis chose to play another str big-strong-dumb PC? I haven't finished the first episode quite yet, but his half-orc has been introduced. I really hoped he'd go for something different. I feel like he has a lot to offer, but seems intimidated to play smart/charismatic characters.

Sam Riegel is by far the best reason to watch this show. What a great guy and player; he often carries the whole show on his shoulders without stealing attention. From a purely entertainment point of view I honestly think I'd prefer to watch Mercer DM for just the guys. A smaller group and they're just more interesting... but in this day and age that might sound sexist.

From his stat block splash, Warlock Hexblade with high Charisma and average Strength. So kinda yes in temperment, but mostly no.

Some people just don't find some things very fun.

I don't play many high Charisma characters, because I hate playing a party face. I have enough social anxiety in Real life, thank you very much. I also don't like playing spellcasters as I hate extra bookkeeping.

It wouldn't surprise me if Travis has some strong dislikes too.
