D&D 5E Best spells with no components? Or, spells for the naked spellcaster.

Whether it's Anck-su-Namun awaiting Pharaoh clad in naught but body paint or Mordenkainen meeting a group of friends in a bathhouse, there are times when a mage or priest can prepare for a situation where spell components will not be available. So, which are the best to prepare?

This thread is a follow-on inspired by this one. As with that thread, let's keep everything PG.

As in the other thread, escape spells like Teleport and Dimension Door are obvious choices. Mind Blank can be pre-cast. Animate Objects is a great utility spell. Alter Self and Disguise Self are great choices. OTOH Burning hands seems a bit of a poor choice. Is Destructive Wave worth it? And what about protecting your friends?

There are a huge number of PHB spells with no components. But which to choose?

If you're Batman, you've got ready access to the component for fireball.



Oh wait. Fireball also requires sulfur.

misty step is the low level bonus action teleporting, so you can double run right after!

Outside teleporting type things to get you out of there:

Glibness / Modify Memory - Make a social situation go the way you want
Power Word Stun - non-damaging, and just what you need sometimes.
Animal Shapes - to escape (flight, burrow, etc), attack, what ever for you and all of your bathhouse friends even if they have no weapons.
Dominate * - Ways to deal with different interlopers
Crown of Stars (XGtE) / Eyebite / Meteor Storm - good offense
Time Stop - so you can get to your components and items

Tiny Servant - make soap that can wash your back
Mage Hand - get a drink
Chill Touch - to keep your drink cold.

And of course:
Wish - so you can do any other spell.

That's a good one but you're then using two turns to cast one spell.
