Should I apply for the D&D 5e Community Manager position?

It seems Satine Phoenix's contract for Community Manager is up on April 1st. I feel like she hasn't been in the position a long time. It seems so soon.

But, I was wondering if you folks think I have a shot if I apply.

I have been a moderator on the official Midway forums (the folks who make Mortal Kombat, Blitz, pinball machines, etc) back whe Midway was still around, I was a moderator for several years.

I was also a moderator for a while on an MK fan site, though this would hold no real weight.

And I was a moderator for R.A. Salvatore's DemonWars Reformation forums, moderating with his son Bryan and several others.

Do you folks believe that is enough experience for the position?

This is where I fall flat on my face -

Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in a marketing or communications discipline.
Unfortunately I don't have that.

3-7 years of experience in games community management (tabletop or video game).
I have about 5 years in total.

Corporate experience an absolute must
I worked for Target, they are a corporation, does that count?

Experience in AAA gaming brands recommended.
Moderator for Midway, they make Mortal Kombat, that is AAA.

Experience in team leadership and high level community strategy.
I used to be an Assistant Instructor for a Taekwondo school, as well as a moderator on several forums, we had to work together as a cohesive unit with the same goals in mind.

Hands-on experience in community building.
See above.

In-depth knowledge of all emerging social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Forums, and Discord.
I grew up with the internet, this is a staple for most people 35 and younger.

Not having the Bachelor's Degree will kill my chances. And the limited corporate experience.

In my managerial experience, companies that focus on having a Bachelor Degree over actual work experience are throwing a red flag - you would not want to work for them in the first place. There are some exceptions to that, where dysfunctional practice in HR is not necessarily indicative of dysfunction elsewhere, but it can be a fair warning of danger. That said, if there is another applicant with equal qualifications + a bachelors degree, then there is nothing you can do about that but gracefully accept the decline.

What did you do at Target?

My biggest concern is just that you asked a forum of public opinion. :p

That said, apply. There is absolutely no reason not to make the attempt.

I applied! Only time will tell if I get it.

At Target I was an Electronics' Specialist. And as sales representatives we worked closely with corporate with what they wanted, how they wanted it presented, and ultimately the Target brand way of doing things. But, in lamest terms, I was just a sales associate who was real good at my job and very knowledgeable about the products, and if I wasn't, I would find out for the cus... guest, I mean guest (Target inside joke, they call customers "guests"), anyways.

Sure, if you think you can do the job, why not?
The worst that'll happen is they'll hire someone else - wich they'll surely do if you don't apply.

The worst that will happen is I will get hired, and not be able to do the job and be a huge embarrassment to myself.

But, I have experience, so what am I worried about if I did get it?

The worst that can happen is that WotC is a just a front for a demonic cult, and as the latest hire you get sacrificed to Orcus in a painful ritual that opens a permanent portal between Seattle and the Abyss, dooming the world to an invasion of demons!
