Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sorcerer and Warlock

There's a new Unearthed Arcana from WotC today, hot on the heels of the recent one for barbarian and monk. "Two classes, the sorcerer and the warlock, discover new playtest possibilities this week. The sorcerer receives a new Sorcerous Origin feature: the Aberrant Mind. Meanwhile, the warlock gains a new Otherworldly Patron feature: the Lurker in the Deep. We’ve also included a new cantrip...

It must be said, ever since Crawford took over UA (post-MToF), it has become a lot more of a hand of cards held close to the chest. Crawford is better at showmanship and misdirection than Mearls, by a longshot.
I just find it hilarious that a lot of the ex Paizo crew including a co-creator of Pathfinder are now working at Wizards. He is now editing for them and writing for them.

Druids: This one is tough. Some of of unnatural focus. "Circle of Blackness." Can shapeshift into Aberrations instead of beasts (might need to add some low CR aberrations).

Rather than a Druid that wants to be an Aberration, perhaps a group opposed to them and extraplanar threats? The Gatekeepers, for example, are an order of Eberron Druids that do that. A subclass with psychic resistance, banishment effects (heck, just access to the spell, Banishment is not a Druid spell), and such could be a good option.

Along the lines of what I was suggesting for Paladins.

It feels to me like they are testing the psionic/weird subclasses Mike Mearls spoke off way back when last he spoke of the Psion.
One of the complaints about the Mystic was that "you could do too many things with the class." I don't know if I buy that (cleric does a pretty good job of being a class with subclasses that touch on other classes [although people do complain about the Nature domain cleric]), but if they are taking that seriously, it maybe that they do intend to focus on psychic subclasses.

Still between the Lurker warlock and the Astral monk, maybe some kind of projected phantom appendage(s) gimmick, which would be cool, different from "regular" magic, and not unduly complicated, could work for the class (and it is somewhat consistent with Mearls psion)...not sure how the aberrant mind sorcerer would fit that though.

Maybe they are tied to the Far Realm concept or something. If they are indeed tied together we will get more of them for the other classes.
