Next year? Hah! Things move faster from my end or not at all. I am no sloth or beggar, mind you. Mike can either take my e-mail or not, his choice, he's that end's boss, more power to him. That's the professional route and in kind what we all bear from. But thanks anyway, It was more airy thoughts, actually. But, hey, in either case you get phantasms: MORE CASTLE or LESS CASTLE.I can certainly talk to Mike Mearls about it at GaryCon if you'd like, Rob?
Allan.
Really, this is a great example of how "blowing up the setting" is simply a matter of liking something or not. Paizohawk introduced all sorts of things to the setting that were new. If you like Paizohawk, the following is true in Greyhawk:Broadly speaking for Greyhawk I think the best claim is.
1. Yourself or Gary's children.
2. Anyone who isn't going to blow it up Paizohawk.
3. Anyone who is gonna blow it up in a semi logical way (2E).
4. Anyone who is going to blow it up in a really silly way.
5. People who really don't get it.
Hopefully if WotC redo it for a modern audience it's option 2. 1 would be the ideal but oh well.
IMHO.
here's a borderline GH question for any of you lucky people who still own one of the boxed GH sets... how big is each of those Darlene poster maps? I ask because I have the PDF version from DTRPG, and when I was in Office Depot today, I noticed that they have a poster printing service. Apparently, if I put the PDF on a thumb drive and take it to them, they can print the maps off of them. But I need to see if they have any poster stock of roughly the same size...

There can be no doubt, the original folio maps are the most gorgeous maps produced for any campaign setting - ever. The folio poster map measures 36" x 48" when assembled, later maps are ca. 30" x 40", and the 3E maps are mere bookmarks in comparison. Additionally, the '83 maps are dull and the colors are muted. The folio maps are gorgeous and glossy really showing off the rich colors of Darlene's artwork. The glossy paper stock is also more durable and it can be written on with a grease pencil and erased. Spills are not catastrophic to the glossy maps either.
The original folio maps are 36"x24" each, while the later boxed set maps are smaller. Paul Stormberg mentioned the dimensions in discussion on Dragonsfoot many moons ago:
When aligned with the overlap, the combined map size reduces somewhat to 36"x44.5" but the folio maps hanging on my office wall may be somewhat smaller (35" tall vs. 36" perhaps) if they're from a later printing. I'll have to pull out some first printing maps to measure and confirm later tonight.
The thread at Dragonsfoot • View topic - Boxed Set or Original Folio details additional differences between the Greyhawk folio and boxed set contents, in addition to the map dimensions.

thanks grodog! I thought you might know...The original folio maps are 36"x24" each, while the later boxed set maps are smaller. Paul Stormberg mentioned the dimensions in discussion on Dragonsfoot many moons ago:
Heh. That's an oddly specific example.Totally understandable, @David Howery --- games are meant to played, after all, rather than cherished in shrinkwrap behind 2" of vacuum-sealed clear plastic display boxes
