Obsidian and The Outer Worlds expose Bethesda as the frauds they are and have been

Here's a fun game...I just went metacritic and grabbed 4 Non-Fallout games from Bethesda and 4 Non-Fallout games from Obsidian released in the last 10 years. I only picked games that I have heard of, and that I would consider "popular". Guess which set of scores belongs to which company.

94,91,85,82

Dishonored, Skyrim, Doom 2016, Prey

89,88,86,85

Pillars of Eternity, Pillars of Eternity 2, The Outer Worlds, The Stick of Truth
What about user scores? I've typically found those to be more telling than the straight metascore (outside of review bombs sigh)

Edit: also I'll point out I have no bone to pick here. I love Skyrim and Doom, I've yet to play Prey but it's a favorite of a trusted friend

Further edit: I just did it myself, apart for POE 2 at 7.8 everything else is firmly in the 8.0 to 8.5 territory.

I don't know, but does it make any difference? The general buzz on all 4 games I listed for both companies is positive so its pretty unfair to say that one company is "not respected" because they have a few turds in an otherwise acceptable punch bowl. It probably would be more fair to say that Bethesda has over the last couple years gone from a "Day One Purchase" company to a "Wait and See" company in many peoples eyes. That is definitely the case with me and the Fallout franchise at this point.

On a different note...I wonder how Metacritic works for videogames and ongoing improvements. I looked up No Man's Sky (which I enjoy on the Xbox) and it was rated a lowly 61 for the PC version but a much more respectable 77 for the Xbox one. The main difference between the two being that the Xbox version released after LOTS of fixes and additions to the gameplay so that it essentially isn't the same game as released originally. Does the Metacritic scoring system take "updates" into account for scores and if not would FO76 as it exists today be ranked higher than a 52?

I think your right, just from a personal stance I'll like to avoid the critic bias and go straight to the plyaers.

As far I know it's the critics initial review somehow combined with players reviews, and I think few players go back and update their reviews, or make a new one for a game that's been out that long.

It probably would have been higher, but then bombed again with the fallout (pun intended) form FalloutFirst.

Bethesda quality has fallen of a cliff.

Outright fraud no except maybe preorder stuff with their jackets, bags, Nuka Cola Dark promotions.

I held off buying Fallout 76 and still muck around with 4 and the DLC. I almost preordered 76 but thought I would wait. Phew huh. I wasn't a massive fan or hater of Bethesda before Fallout 76 but I liked some of their games. Wife liked Skyrim.

Fallout 76 has combined sales of 2.46 million across all 3 platforms (PS4, XB1, PC). For a AAA title, that's ... not good.

You are so missing the point. Have whatever opinion you want of their games. I really could not care less what you think of their games. I don't care what their scores are, either. They aren't relevant.

They made some games you don't like. Fine. That doesn't constitute fraud. The point has nothing to do with the games - it has to do with the language use - our tendency to feel that, when we are dissatisfied, that justifies any rhetoric we feel like. It doesn't.

So, please, feel free to talk about how crappy their games are. Just actually accuse them of making crappy games, not being fraudulent.

There's quite a bit if evidence they did defraud people.

It was more with the add on to the pre orders than the game.

Here they would get pinged for misleading advertising.

The examples they used didn't match the final products. Canvas bag become plastic nice glass bottle and case became plastic.

And the bag deal.

You could go to the commerce commission here with advertising like that. Bethesda did ship the expected bags later.

With respect, dude, you don't get to say, "I declare them to not be respected, and therefore everyone who says otherwise is a fraudluent, lying liarpants!" You have an opinion about Bethesda. That's fine. But it is your opinion, not an established fact such that others are lying if they don't agree with you.

You have not been granted the title of Arbiter of Game Development Reputation by any relevant source. So, please dial it back, before you insult someone in your fervor.
He is right though. They have intentionally misled people multiple times about what would or would not be available in a game with or without microtransactions and also whether there would be microtransactions. They have engaged in a form of fraud and it does indeed have a monetary effect of massive proportions. They did this with 76 for example. So...he may not have meant it in a legal way but actually they should probably be considered to be fraudulent under the law. Also they have stolen a lot of intellectual property from modders (which im obviously listing as a different sort of crime). Respectfully i have to agree. Not all, but indeed some bethesda individuals and the company as a result are fraudulent entities. Full stop.

I'll post here what i post there when asked

I got Fallout 76 and then paid money for the atom shop (have done so more than once) and guess what: I DO NOT REGRET IT. I'm having fun running around WV,meeting random players, checking out camps. Reading the lore on terminals or listening to holotapes. I plan to pre-order the next ES and FO games and Star field.
