D&D 5E The Consolidated List of Psionic UA Subclass Options.

Leatherhead

Possibly a Idiot.
Because of the most recent UA, people are worried about the Mystic/Psion being dropped in favor of it becoming a Wizard Subclass. Any truth to this would be a half truth. Yes there would be a Wizard subclass, but there are also a bunch of other subclasses that would also be psionic too, and I want to take the time to remind people that there are a lot more options than just the last three waiting in the wings right now.

Archivist. The Artificer with an AI. Has extensive Telepathy, and a pet that is essentially a souped-up psycrystial.

Way of the Astral Self. Monks that punch things with their ideal self in the form of an Astral Construct.

Aberrant Mind The Sorcerer Psion, with a bit of that Far Realm Flavor. Seasoned to taste of course.

Of course you have the last three (Fighter, Thief, and Wizard) which brings us up to about half of the classes that have an obviously psionic subclass.

In addition to those, Great Old One Patrons already officially exist, and are basically just getting powers from a Mind Flayer (or something like that), so that's kind of like Psionics. Any potential Psionic book that we get would likely brush those up a bit.

At the rate we are going, there might just be a psionic subclass for every class before this batch of UA updates ends (presumably sometime next year)

At this point, I would like the ‘Psionic’ tag to have the mechanical effect of eliminating every material component, and providing an alternative to any costly gp component. Psionic spells are treated as innate spellcasting.

The material component − including an implement as a spell focus − is highly problematic for direct mind-over-matter flavor.

Personally, I am ok with the vocal component, using ones own voice as a mental focus. But other psionic players want to be rid of vocal and somatic components as well.

So, the Psionic tag needs to be able to eliminate any spell component, treating the spell as innate spellcasting.

I would also add the core Wizard arcane traditions of Enchantment, Divination, and Illusion, as subclasses that can gain the Psionic tag.

Any Bard subclass merits the Psionic tag.

Any Monk subclass merits the Psionic tag.

The Wizard Psionic subclass is a great illustration of how WotC is failing AT Psionics. Everything about it is half-arsed and half-hearted. You get to pick a couple of spells which actually act like psionic abilities and everything else is a mess which has the usual verbal and material components. The "thematic" list of psionic-style spells is like a bad homebrew.

For some reason, I imagine WOTC complaining about the elimination of material components, for Psionics, to be unbalanced and making it unfair for spell casting classes that require said components.

But this is coming from WOTC, who for whatever the reason, made Wu-Jen into a Psionics based path/(sub)class. So sound logic doesn't seem to apply.

Do not forget about the Mystic as well which brings the list of Psionic based classes up to 7. If they keep this up then we'll have Psionics for all the PHB+Eberron classes.

No, those are traditional and deeply Arcane, with a bit of dabbling in Shadow magic for the Illusionist.

The Mystic is dead. A Psion has that was really cool was being worked on by Mike Mearls that was awesome however and we have a shot at that still.

The Mystic might never get officially published, but it is hardly dead. We still have our pdfs to use at the table. And there is DMs Guild material for it.
