That second image is indeed excellent. I'm not 100% sure the perspective/angle is quite right, but the overall strength of the piece more than makes up for it. And good catch on the feather.

I should go check my tome of magic to see what that imp is doing. It could be doing "omg what a powerful spellcaster!!!" ... or it could be leering. The ambiguity may be intentional.

Really? How would you describe it? What is that imp doing?

So, yes, it is constructive to say that the imp is leering. That's exactly what it's doing. It's openly staring at the half naked woman with its mouth open. That's pretty close to the dictionary definition of leering. Note how you would never see that imp doing that if that was a male wizard in a full robe standing in the same position. I mean, come on, it's pretty obvious here.

No, it’s pretty clear the expression is one of astonishment or awe. There’s no leering going on. I think you’re bringing that impression because of her clothing. There’s nothing particularly unpleasant or lascivious about that imp‘s expression.

Yeah. Not buying it. Why would an imp be astonished by a spell caster? "Oh, wow, boss, that's some pretty interestingly flashy... magics you got going on there."

Pretty much standard Caldwell pinup art.

While Caldwell is known for his pin up style, it looks pretty obvious the imp is looking up at the spell. If it were leering, I’d think it’d be looking at her.
