Counterspell: what if the caster takes 1d4 damage per level of the spell cast?
I do agree that the current version of Find Familiar is rather glib. It would be better if it had a natural shape, and could shapeshift into the assorted forms, like an Imp does, but perhaps once per short rest. There's something wrong with dispelling and resummoning it each time you want a different shape.

Leomund's Tiny Hut: There's no effort spent to make the result of the spell magical, by which I mean numinous. It has the characteristics of a Star Trek force-field, rather than a hut. Perhaps a choice of styles, each with strengths and weaknesses that match that style, and have meaningful consequences for choosing the wrong style for the situation.

Wish - as written. Cautious, weak. If I give you a WISH I want to see you do something cool with it, not just copy a lesser spell.
Find Familiar - sort of. I don't like that it's not a specific creature.
Guidance - I really dislike seeing this thing spammed before any & every check. The only real effect it's had is that I simply set DCs 5 pts higher when I've got players who use it.
Players and dms who say "oh i think this is a wonderful spell and all my players/my dm loves it."

Have you no dignity?

Counterspell. It makes players miserable when you use it on them. Not doing anything is the opposite of playing D&D.

Counterspell. There are so many more interesting things to do with a spell slot than using it to do nothing.

Counterspell. The new Xanathar spell identification rules make using the spell a pain in the rear.

When I saw the thread title, my immediate thought was counter spell for all three.
Good to see I wasn’t alone lol

Campaign depending (but you know me i am not over banning certain spells)
Fly - Obstacle? There are no obstacles! (Why not attaching wings to every PC from the start :cautious:)
Tiny hut - this is just munchkin
Timestop - it is a bit flimsy for what it can do compared to earlier versions, should eventually be downgraded to 5th or so

Hi, I'm a Mindflayer, but don't let that worry you
1. All of the Conjure summoning spells if they're used to summon a lot of creatures, because it takes forever to resolve all those extra attacks.
2. Polymorph if it's used to turn an ally into a Giant Ape or other such nonsense, because it's basically +150 temporary HP, which is hella unbalanced for its level.
3. Find Familiar, because it slows down combat rolling initiative for the familiar, then asking every round, "What is your owl/cat/rat doing?" Oh, and the scouting can be a real drag too if it takes up too much game-time.

As a DM:

1) Healing Spirit - the only spell I've banned. Works perfectly if used in combat, but abusive out of combat. Suggested errata makes the spell too weak, however, so it's just better left in the trash heap.

2) Revivify - while I like the idea of a resurrection spell for lower level, the problem is that it's better than the higher level spells in almost every case if cast within the 1 minute time frame. I've houseruled the same penalty from Raise Dead be added to it.

3) Divination - I'm not good at on the spot cryptic answers that give the right about of information. It's either too cryptic, wasting the spell and irritating the players, or too much, giving away the plot and allow the players to shortcut too much.

Bitbrain

Lost in Dark Sun
Heat Metal = it shouldn’t give disadvantage if you succeed on the saving throw.

Healing Spirit = doesn’t exist at my table.

Feeblemind = the only spell in the PHB that reduces a player’s Ability Score.
