It occured to me that the valor bard gets an extra attack at level 6... I am wondering would it be appropriate to allow the extra attack in addition to a cantrip. In that sense a Warlord who was all Hector/Bravura could then Predatory Stare and Follow Through on it
An actual cantrip? Probably not, in concept, because Extra Attack and Cantrips are on the same order of scaling.

Now, an action that let you make a one attack as a bonus action...

Technically these are not exactly cantrips :p
hmmm perhaps if the cantrip was performed as though 5 levels fewer you can perform an attack as a bonus action.

Ultimately I see two good classes.

Bard: In a way, already warlordy in its ability to inspire allies, focus on charisma, etc. Change the mechanic of bardic inspiration, or maybe some spell adjustments...and your good to go.

Fighter: The battlemaster seems to have everything you need to make a warlordy martial character. Simply create new maneuvers to account for warlord stuff...and your good to go.

Ways to not be such a single target character? Ways to do maneuvers more often than once in a blue moon. Ways to turn attack spamming into some of the above. Ways to make Intelligence not a dump stat. I think it's actually a fairly dramatic change. Though I definitely have some ideas and some sympathy with the classic source of the Warlord being the Intelligent/Clever Warrior using tactics and strategy and not just weapons mentioned rather glowingly and named a Fighter in 2e.

I agree on fighter. BM with the manuever fighting style, and new manuvers that do a more broad set of things, as well as replacing the improved extra attack features with renamed legendary actions, and I think you’ve got an excellent warlord whose round is equivalent in support effect to a bard’s, but who accomplishes that in a very different way.

I need more explanation on this idea some examples perhaps.

AIso I think you overestimate the impact of fighting styles they are pretty low impact resources and the frequency of the superiority dice makes I hit it with my sword and do that again and again the main activity for this character ... and while I do like a Fighter/Warlord combo I like more Warlord in the mix than just that tiny subtype which once in a while affects only one ally at a time only rarely and is more of a beat stick machine most of the time which is all the Battlemaster touches on.
