OK, so I am looking at the advancement section in OLD and from the sound of it you pay to advance based on if you have prior ranks in that career. So if your a Rank 3 Mercenary you would have to spend 40xp to go to rank 4.
Your over all character grade has no bearing on what it costs you to advance. So theoretically, if you wanted you could shift through many lower tier careers at relatively low cost which would end up upping your over all grade and dice pool.
Is the above correct?
Second part is does this sometimes cause imbalances in the party? Where one person is a much higher over all grade than the rest of the group? Does that skew encounters?
