D&D 5E What do you think the 2020 Summer, Fall, and Winter D&D books will be?

I hope the things will be better after spring and summer when days are warmer and sunnier.

In this year we should have more news about Dark Sun. There are plans about Ravenloft, maybe a compulation of modules about the Grand Conjuction. Spelljammer is also in the list.

Other lines will have to await until an adaptation to videogames or teleserie, for example Dragonlance.

Why? If its Coronavirus, alot of work can been done remotely.

Most printing nowadays is done in China. I don't know if WotC's is, but if it isn't, it's unusual in that regard.

There are other printers in other countries. Don't you think they have already thought of this and have put together alternatives and contingency plans in place by now? Its not like Corona was discovery yesterday, or that a possible trade war with China hadn't been a possiblity for years now.

Darksun likely won't be until at least 2021, we need to playtest a Psion class first (Mystic wasn't popular enough to survive).

I haven't said DS to be published this year but we will have to receive some new, for example about the psionic handbook for 2021, or maybe the official anouncement of a new DS videogame with the sytle of Conan Exiles. My suggestion is WotC to hire Dreamscarred Press staff for the psionic powers (and later the martial adepts).

Greyhawk needs its own Baldur's Gate, a smashing-hit videogame, but theses needs a lot of time if you really want a good work.

If Mystara comes back the spin-off Hollow World could suffer a retcon with a style more closer to DS. After Spelljammer the next step may be Red Steel/Savage Coast to test new ideas as firearms and mutants(superpowers).

And those printers will also be swamped by everyone doing the same thing as WOTC; trying to find alternatives to Chinese printers. The demand will drive printing prices up. Now either WotC will eat those costs to deliver more expensive books on time, pass the cost on to customers, or delay until prices come back down.

Delays are a very, very real possibility. They're not a sure thing, but it would be foolish to discount that potential outcome. We really are going to have to wait and see.

The last book released (Eberron) was a setting and the next two confirmed books will also be settings. So I'm going to guess the unannounced products will go in another direction to avoid setting fatigue.

Summer: Shorter adventure collection. Following the Yawning Portal and Ghosts of Saltmarsh model, a collection of smaller adventures that can be used individually or run one after another. I believe it was reported that Kate recruited some big names to work on a book so I think that a number of these will be originals instead of conversions from old editions.

Fall: Adventure Path in the form we are used to getting them now. Levels 1 - 15 conflict that eventually grows to epic proportions. I'm betting that it will tie into Baldur's Gate 3 by focusing on the Gith vs mind flayer conflict.

Winter: It's been a while since we've had a monster book. Taking after Volo's and Mordenkainen's it would also double as a deeper exploration of some of the lore. This is the one I'm least sure about since we've now had 3 monster focused books and most of the classics and go to's are statted at this point. But there could be interest if they round up some of the truly obscure old monsters.

I believe it was reported that Kate recruited some big names to work on a book so I think that a number of these will be originals instead of conversions from old editions.

Greg Tito also referenced the Yawning Portal and "portals on portals" for an upcoming product in the official podcast a few weeks ago. I wouldn't be surprised if we see planar material throughout the year.

That would be amazing. I'd love it if it was as setting-independent as possible -- at least for the Prime Material Plane portion -- but that may be naive.

A Manual of the Planes 5E could give us planar lore, some of the more obscure critters and planar player-facing content.
