Monopoly???

The growth in monopoly is from new licensed versions of the same game, so yes they count as new offerings (and is pretty easy for an investor to understand).

Some of them were in the family when I was a kid, but I've never owned any of them.

Monopoly Game of Thrones is another popular looking one, it is #1032
Monopoly "Cheater's Edition" is #1250

The PHB is, as of now after the end of a great sale, at #59 in Books.

I just don't believe that Monopoly is outselling dnd right now.

I bet they just listed it in their press release because they know everyone's heard of it and want to remind people who makes it.

Sure sure but: (a) I think in-store sales at Target and Walmart have got to be pretty suppressed right now and (b) People buy dnd at Walmart too...

Yes, and there was a rush in some parts of the world on games in the January - March time frame. Not just in board games in big box stores, but also, from what I understand, even in video games and other categories of games. People were prepping for staying at home or getting things to keep them entertained while staying at home.
