You know what I would love? If some saintly person made a PDF with every unearthed arcana organized by class then publication date.

Like, Bard1 -2013, Bard2 - 2014, etc.

I like that. It leads to a situation where a fire mephit and a djinni would speak to eachother in their native dialects, the mephits speaking in Ignan and the Djinni replying in Auran, without any barrier to understanding. It's a weird little thing that sets elementals apart.
Glad you like the idea 😁

tangentially, isn't djinni pronounced with a different opening sound than the common english pronounciantion of genie? Djinni like G*inny, genie like jeenee.

*not the same g as in ginny, though. not quite. more like that sound that a Z can sometimes make that sounds nothing like a normal Z.
I guess there might be a very subtle difference? Then again, Mary, marry, abs merry all sound pretty much the same when I say them.

If they really want to run with the whole 'sentient spellbook' thing, without copying familiar, at level 14 they could let it Concentrate on a spell for you! Now that... would be insane but in a 'crazy cap stone' kind of way. Make it a once per day thing and make it do concentration checks whenever you take damage and I think it would be balanced.

Might be unbalanced, but it would be a nifty idea to play with

Well, the m at least is exactly the same in each.

But yeah I think dj and the g in genie are different in what I would call a more noticeable way.

In Arabic the only "g" is a hard g, and it is part of the Egyptian dialect. There's also the ghain, which is a grindy g without any similarity to American or British English sounds.

The jeem (traditionally transcribed as a dj) is the only "j" like sound.

So, what you’re saying is, dj and g aren’t pronounced the same.

So much love for Golden Sun here, my goodness!!!
If any of you are interested, the Temple of Kraden forums still live (long may it do so, much as Kraden's beard!), and our discord is booming, too.

Odd that that link only has 70 UAs, when my list of UAs are 73, but end at the same article? Are they missing 3 UA documents from their list? From a quick glance, it seems like they're missing for example the second take on Psionics and the Mystic (or perhaps their link for the 1st take goes to the 2nd take?). Wouldn't be surprised if one or the other was buried by WotC, just overwriting the link when the new version went live.

I haven't organized by class, but whenever a class is included in an UA, I edit it into the title so I can search keywords in my folder. If I've got some time this week, though, I might make a cheat sheet for ya.

Yeah, but Genie isn't Arabic, it's a French approximation of Arabic "Djinni," as others have said here, by way of genius/genius locus/genii loci.

Re- Awakened spellbook providing a concentration slot.

they have already proposed something similar in the Revised Ranger class features for the Hunter's Mark spell.

I'm playing a ranger who uses it, and it has made a noticeable difference.

But, while I would say that the Ranger version is powerful, because one of the two spells has to be Hunter's mark the combo potential is lower. The familiar idea is not limited, so any two spells could be combo'd and I've played with that too and it might be one of the stronger abilities you can give a caster.

Broken? I doubt it, but you need to be careful with it certainly

I agree with you, but I find a very flavourful option as distinct to what they are actually proposing. As to balance, I am throwing out an idea, and I do intend to add this to my feedback. Balance is for the WotC design team to worry about.
