New job posting:

We need a cool cat to come help us do some rad stuff about the things we do and how they get done. We need to do better with stuff, and the other business has also been an issue. The right cat for this gig will be able to do different stuff about business while still keeping the wider issues about other crap in view. Some solid experience with stuff like this would be neat. Drop by our pad if this seems like your bag.

Hmm, hiring someone with no actual credentials or training for the job doesn't seem like a winning idea. They probably shouldn't hire a white dude though.

You can't be serious about diversity if you're willing to exclude an entire class of people for a position. Also, it's illegal as hell for employers to discriminate against someone on the basis of race or skin color in the United States. There are plenty of HR professionals of various genders and races with the qualifications for the Senior Manager Diversity & Equity position. Not me, not my bag and I don't meet their basic qualifications. But it looks neat.

Not sure it would be the best idea to hire someone who had a chief complaint of feeling like they were a token hire, into a job they aren't qualified for based solely on the demographic they happen to fall under. That seems....like a bit of cognitive dissonance going on there.

Either way, it's nice to see that no matter what WoTC does, or will do, people with minds made up will attack them for it. If you're going to be hiring for a business manager in a corporate job for a large company, you're going to sound professional and use jargon that matches the corporate business world. Complaining about that seems to show a large unawareness of how large businesses operate.

As a project manager for a large corporation, if I saw a wanted ad worded in casual talk, it would be a big red flag for me about their seriousness and professionalism if I didn't know anything else about them, and probably wouldn't apply. Since they don't need an RPG expert, but a diversity expert, they could be turning away very qualified people by putting out an ad that looks like a high schooler wrote on their FB page.

I mean burnt bridges aside. A designer probably doesn't have that same skill set or experience as someone whose career it has been to implement policy. And while it would be an olive branch perhaps, probably better to hire someone without any direct past biases. Either their own, or ones placed upon them by others.

If I were Orion I wouldn't be interested in the job. I tend to quit when I've had my fill and am no longer interested in putting in effort. I'd just assume that I'd be another token to be put on a pedestal as a showpiece when needed and ignored on every other day. That's kind of how they felt when they worked there already, so I would expect more of the same if I were them.
