A Board Game where you have to do more Roleplay than with an RPG. Dance off, Rhyme battle and describing your attacks and death blows... 8D
When I DM, I'm now requiring my bard players to sing and make jokes if they want to grand bardic inspiration or use Vicious Mockery.

You'll roleplay or ELSE! :devilish:

May want to wait for the 6e game to come out if your kids are that young. But, if they can rhyme, you are good to go.
Both my kids started with Dungeon! while they were in kindergarten. If you can count and have someone on hand to help you sound out words, you're good to go. (The prospect of losing all your treasure with a bad roll was a bigger issue at that age.)

I am both confused and amused by folks in this thread grumbling about cheap components and limited utility.

IT'S AN INTRODUCTORY GAME FOR CHILDREN.

Seriously -- it is meant to be played exactly 4 times before moving on to the Starter Set or Essentials box. It isn't a premium FFG style dungeon crawler. It's a crappy board game designed to make you want to try real D&D. If you are an established D&D player, it's not for you.
Still, I think kids would've loved a big, awesome dragon miniature.
And I don't know what the harm would be in trying to make a board game that could last for several sessions. HeroQuest was a "crappy board game" designed for kids, and easily much better than what we're getting here.
But a crappy product will always be a crappy product. And fans of board games, D&D, and people with kids should always demand more than "it's okay it's crappy - it's for kids."

I crit!
You can pick those minis up separately now. Probably even ones for the other monsters and PCs. I might put a list together. Also I wonder if they’ll do a delux version?

My son will be 3 yo in 2 weeks, so he's still a little young, but I plan on using a simplified version of 4e with one of the many random dungeon card deck + a random encounter cards deck + same thing for loot to create a board game initiation to D&D. With all movement and distance calculated in squares, I think it would be quite easy to learn, as long as the rules are simplified enough (maybe restrict it to PHB 1 or use Essentials instead)
