The Origins Award is a industry award and it has a reputation of being pretty far removed from the hobby. The ENnies are a better representation of the hobby IMO.

On saying that, Teens in Space looks to be a good game, so congrats.

Never heard of it. Looked at the winners and again I don't really think some of these awards for the industry are really relative to what is actually being purchased or the best products. Contrast paints I do agree with however, they were a great product that sold well. This is just my opinion.

Ditto. I've never bought anything simply because it had won an award.

As Von E noted, industry awards are hit and miss as to what the public is actually interested in. From what I can see, its just in-house congratulations.

Public tastes and sentiments can't fully capture the breath and width of what's on offer. Personally, I've been burned countless times on games that were immensely popular, and on the contrary, have had much success with games that were more niche and critically acclaimed.

There's always the Ennies as a barometer for popular sentiment, so it's good that there are other awards that don't apply the same criteria.

Anyway, I must add that usually, for the Origins, there is a fan's favorite award as well, and the judge's and fan's awards don't always match. But this year was different, hence the nonexistence of the latter.

Sadly, the non-existence of the fan award, hit Fria Ligan hard, for the Alien RPG was a sure fire bet this year.
