D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

Who cares about old men in your home?

The Sorcerer King does. Hence why he's hiding away in fear, burning his birth certificate, constantly spamming nondetection for the rest of his life, and generally assuming a normal commoners lifestyle so as not to draw any attention from the Cleric and his large rubber beat-stick.

At a cost of 25 gp every 8 hours. Let's say 16 hours if extended.

Nondetect and Mind Blank foils see invisible and Alarm. OK, The Bastion doesn't care.
Nondetection wouldn't protect against see invisible, but I'll concede on mind blank, even though the interpretation is debatable, since based on my quick research, the balance of opinion seems to be that an 8th-level spell should trump a 2nd-level spell. But you'd better leave the simulacrum of the drow matron mother (which I've always felt was not a rules-compliant use of Twinned wish to duplicate the effects of simulacrum in the first place because having access to a real drow matron mother to duplicate would fall outside the scope of pure character ability) at home since you can only use Twinned wish to protect two creatures with mind blank.

Hey, Alfred has just created a DMM's simulacrum ready to reveal all the secret of the Underrock One! Don't leave her at home, Simulacra are our best source of information!

Sorry. Nondetection hides against Divination Magic. See invisible is Divination Magic.

It's RAW and RAI.

The Bastion trully doesn't care. He can be stealth with 37~47+1d4 that beat creatures's passive perception. It's easy.

Not that his nondetection does anything unless you target him with divination magic.

His lair, teleportation circles, friends, family etc etc are all fair game, as are his Magen minions and the Celestials he seems to have working for him, plus also all of his Simulacra (who definitely know his name, daily routine, where he lives etc).

I could simply Plane shift one of his minions, relatives, friends or allies in to Celestia, and then compel them to tell me everything they know about him (in a zone of truth or via geas or similar) or simply use divination magic such as Scrying to scry on the minions.

Notably, Geas and Zone of Truth are not divination effects (not that the minions have nondetection anyway) so non-detection wont help them.

The Celestials magical compulsion to serve him would be broken in my AMF, and sharing my alignment, they'd likely just tell me what I wanted to know anyway.

I could also simply enter the ethereal plane myself (via plane shift) and travel to wherever he is, and then plane shift out to the material plane there and whup his ass as well, but I guess some of his Celestials he seems to have voluntarily working for him have Truesight (his magen and Simulacrum dont though) so they might see me coming.

But as long as he's happy to hide under a rock playing solitare and doing nothing else other than repeatedly casting nondetection for the rest of his life, that's probably a fate worse than the aforementioned beatdown with the rubber phallus in Celestia.

Interestingly, the discussion you link to (which is just a collection of opinions), refers to Jeremy Crawford's tweet. I am glad their authoritativeness has been reinstated, as it will prevent Simulacra from regaining SP, as of post #825.

He has Simulacra, Magen minions, and bound (somehow) Celestials, plus friends and family (and the rock he hides under). They are not Mind blanked.

Just Scry on them. You wont see the Sorcerer King, but it'll be pretty apparent when he issues them orders, and where he is from their general location.

Or just look for the trembling rock with nothing under it but clean space.

Alternatively simply Plane shift a single minion, simulacra or relative to where you are and ask it questions using enchantment spells.

Divination magic like Detect thoughts would also work on a captured Simulacrum (as even if it's somehow mind blanked, that spell runs out).

Being a creature with the same memories of its creator, it knows the Sorcerer Kings name (and daily routine, and where he sleeps etc).

He does have to come out and give is big rallies to stir up hate and bigotry against wizards. I wonder how hard it would be for a 20th level Assassin to one shot him while he is on stage?
