D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

A truly neutral space would mean the PCs don't face off until after each facing some unknown assortment of monsters. Some classes are better when they have a lot of prep, while some classes are better suited for dealing with the unforeseen. In actual play, you're more sure of a Fighter or Monk having their abilities ready to go when you hit the final room of the dungeon than that the wizard will have his highest level slots ready.

I think you'd have to agree on a few runs, with different scenarios, and you'd at least need to be clear how much prep was involved. Maybe see how one of these sorcerer builds works if it can't set the terms of the battle.

You might, for fun, set up challenges that weren't one-on-one combat, too, to see who was better at out-of-combat stuff. It'd encourage less narrowly-focused builds, I suspect.

On the other hand, nope. Neither as a player nor as the DM. I don't expect the sorcerer to be particularly gracious either in victory or defeat--and I genuinely think either outcome is plausible--nor do I expect him to be happy to play by the actual rules, as opposed to what he wants/believes the rules to be.

All of the above for me as well, plus I just don't care that much to invest a good deal of my free time to prove, uh, something? A couple of posts in this thread, which is just bewilderingly fascinating in a weird way is fine, but I don't really find enough enjoyment in trying to prove the superiority of wizard class which I enjoy playing less than, hilariously enough, sorcerers anyway.

Heck, a truly neutral space might involve them not fighting each other at all. Just solving adventure-ish bits.

We've tried a Theater of the Mind duel, and it began to fall apart when the Wizard got to take a turn.
Given the problem with amorphous builds and resource management, it might be best to use a VTT to set up the characters. The program can serve as a neutral arbitrator for spells known, slots used, skill check modifiers, &c.

Proposed Format: gladiator-style duel. 1-on-1, no previously-created Sims of other people. 100 ft diameter circle arena so it is too big to 'Fireball the room'. Terrain to hide / block line of sight. Both sides know the other is somewhere in there. Both sides had to present themselves to the crowd, so they start with no pre-buffs.

Anything else that should be pre-declared?

The problem is, Hohige does not want a straight up duel. He wants to manufacture a situation where he gets 4 years of preparation and his opponent is a mannequin that never gets a turn, and is incapable of reacting to his environment. This is roughly equivalent to doing nothing but shooting a gun at targets and then claiming you are a master tactician because the targets have never once had the chance to shoot back. Even people who have only played paintball or laser tag, will tell you, it is very different once people start shooting back and no matter how good you think you are hidden, some one is going to see you, even if they just happen upon you by chance.

Wait? I did not understand?

Every time I was a duel the Wizards teleports away ahahah.
This can only be a joke.
My biggest challenge is to sneaky up in to PREVENT the Wizards to teleport (Afraid).
Ahahhaa This is actually a shame.

The Bastion level 20, appears in the sky, with its Nightmare (Subtle Binded creature) or Pegasus (Previous casted Find Greater Steeds) . Simulacrum of himself.
Simulacrum of the assassin is out. (Because The bastion doesn't need it)
And challenge any Wizard to defeat him.

Who will be the brave?
