Well, that and the spell specifically says "On a failed save, you also always know the target’s location".
Yeah. It's a neat rider--and against oni (what the poster originally said they were, and has since retracted) it's genuinely a clever tactic, because they can become invisible at will, IIRC, and the rider renders that irrelevant (to the caster, anyway).
