Hiya!
What ONE THING would you remove from 5E?
Er...well, I'd eliminate something that has to do with WotC as a company and not any particular "rule" in 5e. And no, I'm not going to state it here.

After that, my second choice would be Feats. Don't like em at all and they did nothing but make our game worse overall.

I’d eliminate the ubiquitous assumption that all D&D campaigns, regardless of unique or IP-derived settings, are obligated to include all of the PHB race and class options.

As it stands, I can expect a Game of Thrones or Earthsea 5e Kickstarter campaign that will automatically shoe-horn in Warlocks, Tieflings and Dragonborn. Because that’s what D&D players expect (or even demand), right?

Maybe WotC should reiterate that D&D is a toolbox to build your own worlds, and that you can have an all-gnome world or a land where magic only comes from a divine source or a world in which there are no Humans. You’re actually allowed to do that! Gasp!

it might help if they made such settings.

Wimpy monsters.

I always need to add 2 good saves, more HP, and some extra abilities/feats to almost every critter in the MM. And ALWAYS adding bonus actions and reactions to keep up with players.

WotC have made two settings recently that don't require all the races, those being Ravnica and Theros which have their own race assumptions. Classes though, I'm not sure if they've done any soft restrictions on them.

Anti-Magic, and I've already removed it from my games. I don't like the idea of something that is just an "anti-fantasy genre" spell or ability. You'd might as well have "anti-tech" in a modern or futuristic game that makes you immune to anything other than a stick or rock.

elctro-magnetic pluse?

I think it was there to stop wizards just dominating everything.

This has come up a couple times in this thread. How do people get confused by this mechanism or not like it? I think it is a good mechanic - IME it is far better than minor actions in 4e.

The problem is most bonus actions are "When you X, you can Y as a bonus action," and people either don't remember X correctly, don't write it down, or WotC themselves didn't write it clearly. For example, Jeremy Crawford himself seems unsure about how the Shield Master conditions work. The way two-weapon fighting is worded, a TWF Beast Master Ranger can't use it in conjunction with his Companion attack...or can he? There was a long, inconclusive argument here about it, which proves the rule isn't clearly worded, or at least isn't intuitive. People try to Misty Step and cast a spell all the time, because the text saying they can't isn't in the spell description; it's in a rule somewhere else that they don't have memorized.
