D&D 5E Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

The latest Unearthed Arcana from WotC is called Draconic Options. It includes three variant Dragonborn races and a new kobold race, as well as a handful of new spells and feats. Dragonlance fans might do a double-take when they see Fizban's platinum shield (two Forgotten Realms dragons are referenced in the spells, too -- Icingdeath and Raulothim -- as is the FR god of fey dragons, Nathair).

Harness the power of dragons in this installment of Unearthed Arcana! This playtest document presents race, feat, and spell options related to dragons in Dungeons & Dragons.

First is a trio of draconic race options presented as an alternative to the dragonborn race in the Player’s Handbook, as well as a fresh look at the kobold race. Then comes a handful of feat options that reflect a connection to draconic power. Finally, an assortment of spells—many of them bearing the names of famous or infamous dragons—offer a variety of approaches to manifesting dragon magic.

Any idea who Nathair and Raulothim are? I'm not up to date with iconic D&D Dragon NPCs.

Nathair is the god of faerie dragons, and it's supposedly pronounced neigh-ar. Raulothim, apparently a "paranoid emerald dragon," which is redundant, from the Moonshae Isles. Who has some Spelljammer connection. So sayeth the internets, at least.

Well, this is clearly a call to a future Dragonlance book, with the names of the spells.

3 Forgotten Realms proper nouns, and 1 Dragonlance. Probably a generic book, just like the ones with Greyhawk names in Spells.

Seems to be a UFO conspiracy theorist, who happens to be a Dragon and probably right.

Feels like a Draconomicon, with the Subclass options they tested and these Lineages. Be curious to see if they mix the Feywild stu in here, or elsewhere.

So for those keeping score of post-Tasha's UAs for predicting the next book... the Gothic Lineages and Undead Subclasses both went into the Ravenloft book. That leaves us the Draconic Subclasses and this new Draconic Options, which are obviously a pair, and the Fey Folk racial pack. So either there's two books in the works or there's a multi-section book like Volo's or Mordenkainen's (though maybe a bit narrower in focus) that covers dragons and fae.

So this screams Draconomicon, or possibly, and this is a bit of a reach, an MM2 or something which includes more dragons and feywild stuff.

I would be very very sad if a Monster Manual had half of it's pages dedicated to player options.
Players be damned! Give us some GM stuff already.

After being a little disappointed by Tasha's character options, this book look more usable for more classic high fantasy and less fantasy-supers games.

My bet is on FIzban's Tome of Dragons.

The second and third monster manual for the Edition already went there, so prepare to be disappointed.

we need a better gem dragon characterisation like goals for why they do things.
