Jupiter's Legacy (Netflix)

Just binged it over the weekend. Overall I'm enjoying it.

I think the "coldness" of the (central) characters is very much a part of the plot/character arcs. The original heroes are all about 100 years old. They have lost touch with the world, their emotions, and their connection to others.
Good point there. I think that one of them mentions being over 120 years old, at one point, so yeah, they're well past their sell-by dates. Now that you've mentioned it, it brings to mind one of the flaws you can take in Vampire: The Masquerade; being an anachronism.

Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal
Just watched the first episode with my wife. For a superhero series we didn't have a single cheer-out-loud moment. We debated if we should continue, coming down on the side of "yeah, we can watch more, but not right now" which was a tepid reception.

I was getting exciting in the first scene when Utopian was talking about superhero ethics, get a feeling that's going to be a major recurring theme, especially Shel and Walt talking in the Union of Justice building. Walt's got a dangerous power set to be talking like he's talking.

Acting was fine except for the Mom/Lady Liberty had an off scene at the family dinner, but she was fine elsewhere so I'm don't think there's a concern.

I’ve been home sick so got through the show in a couple of days.

When I first saw the trailer I wasn’t overly excited, thought it looked a bit generic. But once I started watching it I enjoyed it a lot, there’s some really cool world building going on. The flashback / origins storyline got more interesting as it went along eventually becoming my favourite part of the show.

It‘s getting bad reviews unfortunately, from what I’ve seen. Hopefully we still get another season (or more). My main complaint is that many interesting characters and ideas are only briefly touched on.

I saw the trailer, watched it, and then remember I had read the prequel to it Jupiter's Circle (i think). Then I was excited to see it cause I really liked what happened in the prequel.

I really like it, I would say it is my favorite comic to "movie" adaption so far. Some of that is because it explores very similar themes to my last Superhero Campaign. I think Sheldon and the others are indeed out of touch, but at least Sheldon is not dealing with some major trauma and just doubling down on The Code. I think it blinds him to what he really needs/wants to do or what is necessary.

The action sequences are very stylized and I wondered why I really liked the visuals, and the jumps back and forth in time: I think its because they shot it like a comic book. When that thought hit me I then looked at some of the action sequences, and they really did remind me of comic book panels. The fighting isn't really "naturalistic", like most current superhero films who shoot the action sequences like all movies shoot action sequences, its framed like you do in a comic.

So I'd have to summarize with it is my favorite live action comic book superhero media.

I read the source material. I'm increasingly not a fan of cynical, hyper-violent "superhero" tales. Bad guys win in the real world ALL THE TIME. I have no interest in super powered sociopaths. There are enough in the real world thank you very much.

Unless the show is DRASTICALLY different from the comic? Thanks but NO THANKS.

@ShinHakkaider I was afraid it would be cynical/sociopathic too, because I know Kick Ass is (i kinda liked it, but it wasn't super enough for me). I was surprised in that I can see/understand the strains on these folks and it seems reasonable given that they have superpowers. But I don't want to dissuade you from that opinion, just wanted to add to the conversation.
