D&D 5E Ray Winninger mentions third project!

WotC's Ray Winninger has confirmed that another D&D release, by James Wyatt, will be released in between Witchlight (September) and Strixhaven (November). Strixhaven was Amanda Hamon's project, while Witchlight is Chris Perkins'. That assumes he's not referring to the Feywild accessory kit in September.

A lot of people are asking Qs about the [D&D] releases for the rest of this year.

Yes, WILD BEYOND THE WITCHLIGHT is the [Chris Perkins] story product I referenced in our dev blog. STRIXHAVEN is [Amanda Hamon's] project. We have not yet announced [James Wyatt's] project, which releases between WITCHLIGHT and STRIXHAVEN.

Why did we announce STRIXHAVEN so early? Pretty simple--there was no way to release the STRIX-related Unearthed Arcana without letting the cat out of the bag.

You'll learn a lot more about all of these products at D&D Live on G4, July 16 and 17. And yes, there is still a little surprise or two ahead.

If they do Oriental Asian Adventures 5E, I expect and hope their new hire whose Kickstarted Filipino setting is about to get released will be part of it.

But it would not shock me in the least if WotC just steered clear of it this edition. There are a lot of updates they can do that aren't similar lightning rods for trouble.

Why call it Asian adventures. I have yet to see a continent named Asia in and d&d setting. Not saying oriental which Latin for the same word is any better. But neither is a good choice.

I'm still holding that Tarkir is more likely than Kara Tur, but even if they did do Kara Tur it'll be under that name rather than "Asian Adventures" or anything along those lines - WotC seems plenty happy to let the world be the title, with the marketing convey the tone and genre.

Faeries were one of the major races in the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor blocks (which had creature types/"Tribal" as its main mechanical theme). Lorwyn doesn't have any humans though, which might be a hindrance for its inclusion as a D&D setting.

Well, the Farie Court is one of the main factions in Eldraine, actually: some cute Fairy Knights in there.

A couple other old fan favorites, too, but not universal like, say, Elves.

I could easily see Io's Blood Isles and Dragon Mountain being republished ... inside the 5E Draconomicon. Give them each a page or so and a map and then let DMs Guild get to work on a fuller conversion.

One of the issues with Asian and Middle Eastern-based places in the Realms is that they are to the East of the pseudo-European region, which also mean it has that same dividing line of West and East, Occidental and Oriental, Europe and Asia. That eliminates a lot of the more generic book names they could use. but what they could do is give us the Eastern version of Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide and call it the Eastern Realms Adventurer's Guide, with about the same level of detail covering everything from Al'Qadim to Kara-Tur and all in between the two. I think it would work, since one of the old boxed sets was called Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms.
