Xao accepts the hand of greeting and returns with a shake of Dewydd's hand, "With what I was able to see from inside I am guessing there is knowledge of the arcane amongst you, and the power of true names?" Without waiting for any acknowledgement, he continues,"There is one who enjoys in torment, she is a Sphinx, and she wanted me for some reason for my dragon heritage. Part of her 'collection' she said. she must have been scrying me for a long time, how I do not know, but she learned my true name and summoned me through a gate to a place of imprisonment where she tortured me for the fun of it, for 4 months."

She imprisoned me in the Djinn bottle and gave me to her associate as a play toy for the last two months. That is how I came to be here wherever 'here is. It is not where I was when she captured me and it is not a real place."
The last is said with him looking around at the surroundings, his keen Mind and reptilian eyes piercing through the false visage of the magic.

Sylvar B.

Sylvar approaches Xao somewhat suspiciously, he offers his hand in greeting half expecting it to turn into a tentacle or giant claw. He's relieved when a normal hand reaches out for his.

" Good, Whatever time of day it is, to you, my name is Sylvar Belanor, bard and adventurer. Our band is quite the motley crew, you will fit right in should you wish to join us. There are some who would call us Respen's Raiders, but the name hasn't quite taken with the whole group."

After he receives Xao's greeting in return he turns and gives Respen a wink and hearty grin.

Being less prone to prolonged conversation, Lathir looks off from the party and starts to mill about. Understanding that what he is seeing is not real and that he had been transported to the location of the party, albeit by different means, he begins to wonder where he is actually located, since this is still some kind of a trap. He takes a warriors kneeling on the glittering sand and attempts to dispel what magic he can in order to better focus on what may be real.

Knowing that the source of the illusion must be the fixed object (the light-globe that acts as "the sun") Lathir casts a targeted Dispel Magic on it. Being a permanent construct, there is no way to dispel it completely, but its powers CAN be suppressed, which is Lathir's intent.

GM:
Dispel DC: 28
Lathir's roll: (12) + 10 = 22 (Fail)
Even with Greater Dispel Magic a roll of 12 would have failed.
(12) + 14 = 26 (It would have been just shy)
Although, you CAN try it; if you roll 14 or better on the d20, you will succeed. But it will only suppress the object's powers for 1d4 rounds, so it might not be worth it.

Lathir tries to dispel the orb, but its power resists the enchantment, and the illusion continues.

Lenny says, "If it can't be overcome with spells, maybe we could destroy the globe itself?"

Anyone Else?

Kleborn first turns his attention to the new comer and the old friend, extends his hand and says "Greetings Hua Xau, my name is Kleborn the Wolf, I too am a somewhat newcomer to this group. Perhaps after we find our way out of this hex we can share stories over ale." He then turns and nods to Lathir, "good to see you again old friend, glad you are back in our midst."

He watches Lathir as he tries to dispel the orb with no success, he then hears Lenny's suggestion and says, "It is worth a try, let me see if I can hit the globe with a couple of arrows, unless someone has another idea." He has his bow and arrow ready waiting to see if there are any objections.

Thallok simply nods at Hua Xau and Lathir, his attention is now on the globe.

Lenny says, "If it can't be overcome with spells, maybe we could destroy the globe itself?"
Lathir stands to his fit and shrugs a shoulder. "This type of magic is a bit outside my purview. I never thought about just smashing the thing, although there will likely be some repercussion. Anyone have something with which they want to hit it?"

"Yea, I don't know if an arrow will do it, but it is probably the safest try."

Kleborn looks closer at the globe and realizes that his arrows will most likely be ineffective against it, he has another thought. "After looking, I am not sure arrows will work. The arrows will most likely just bounce off that thing, but I had a crazy thought; perhaps we can fly up there somehow and smash it. I am not sure if my sword will work, but maybe I can bash it with my shield. Or if someone has a more blunt weapon we can use" He turns to Lathir, "Perhaps you can turn into a flying beast and give me a lift?"

Lathir looks askew at Kleborn, laughs to himself, and responds. "Yes, as a matter of fact I can. You have seen me shift into a vulture and take to the skies for a prolonged period of time. I can shift into something like a giant eagle, perhaps a young Roc, and carry you."

GM:
Yes, Lathir can shift into a "Young Adult" version of a Roc.
What this means is that he will be a 14HD Roc instead of the normal adult Roc of 18 HD. This is still a tremendously large, strong, flight-capable creature. I reverse-engineered the stats for Roc, and it is plain to see, that even the "teenage" version of this animal is immensely strong, and quite capable of lifting Kleborn to "new heights" 😎)
