The largest official Tiamat miniature ever at nearly 15 inches tall and nearly 30 inches wide, is coming this September from WizKids, according to IGN.

Slated to hit store shelves in September of this year and available for pre-order in the WizKids online shop, the miniature will be priced "under $400" with more details to come, and tower over your player characters, monster miniatures, most of your terrain pieces, and likely some small pets at 28.9 inches (73.4 cm) wide, 14.6 inches (37.1 cm) tall, and 16.8 inches (42.8 cm) long, supported by a 200mm clear round base. This new miniature will be the largest officially licensed, playable representation of the classic Dungeons & Dragons antagonist since her earliest incarnation by D&D co-creator Gary Gygax back in 1975.

No, it was an individual artist I found on deviant art. He only made a handful of them (someone else on these forums got one too). I am pretty sure he does work for special effects studios now (sculpting monsters). There was another artist you made one on commission that was more the WotC design, but they wouldn't make another one.

I was one of the people who got that same massive tiamat. its done by Hector Arce in...San Diego or LA. forgot which.

it was available here...even earlier this year: http://mutecitysculpture.bigcartel.com/

BUt now the store is gone. I got it in summer 2016 IIRC - 750. When i last checked earlier this year, he cost $2500. It said limited to $15 but im not sure if it was 15 per run or 15 total. it seems each year the price went up. i know some garage kit makers would only cast a model after they got the quote for that year, whatever their quote they decided was, but often the price would change on each run. So you seem to have got it right in the first run if you did get it for 400-500.

its total area SPAN IIRC, 18 tall (no base) 24 or 26 wide (cant remember) and 30 long (due to some heads leaning forward) and the wings sweeping back.

As you said, i dont like the red dragon head as it doesnt follow the 3/4/5e art. same with the white (which is closer to the pathfinder art). the blue and black are close to D&D art (Black horns need to be longer). And green is kinda generic and has been in the art as well so its kinda ok. I plan to resculpt/design the red head, extend the black horns and maybe change the white BUT since seeing the wizkids one, i may attempt something more crazy. extend body so its a bit longer, widen as well by splitting it and expanding it outward as well, extending the tail and change the positions of the heads to closer follow the tiamat art since 3e.

should be interesting whenever i get around to do it.

As a side note, the GF9 Demogorgon rocks :p

I am basically in the same / similar spot. I preordered the wizkids tiamat so I am holding off any modifications until that comes. However, I am currently think of doing more modifications than I originally planed. I was inspired a bit by this Tiamat to stretch the envelope a bit. So maybe 4 wings or 6 legs or 3 tails. I even thought about giving it a bipedal stance like the D&D cartoon. Not sure I will end up doing any of that, but I am definitely modifying the red head and I would like modify the black and the white heads. I already made a small change to the blue head and I like the green head, so I think I will keep it.

also, i would LOVE if wizkids did a massive tiamat plastic set in their new upcoming plastic sprue based model sets (advanced sets, similar to GW plastic sets). i doubt they would make something that big, but it would be cool :p

Is this bigger than Reaper's Mal Drakar?
The new wizkids one or one of the other's that was posted? From a little internet research it appears Mal Drakar is smaller.

Mal Drakar: 13" wingspan
Tiamat (WizKids): 28.9" wingspan

However, the difference is not as large as the those numbers would suggest as the Wizkids' Tiamat has it wings stretch out more than Mal Drakar. I couldn't find a good representation of Mal Drakar's size, but here is Tiamat

Edit: This is the best I could find for Mal Drakar

Yes. Wizkids one is (and that other one Dave and I talked about is much). Maal drakar for one is one a base which raises it off the ground. It's torso isn't that big.

Maal is big in the reaper sense but when you compare to other model companies it's nothing special. It's relative low cost makes it appealing

First Post
$400 Tiamat
$70 Green Dracolich (looks nice and since I am paying international shipping anyway I may as well make it worth it)
$70 international shipping

No information on import taxes from Wizkids, but based on various custom fee calculators I found only probably between 150-180 EUR
mtgandmore.de

they sell wizkids miniatures.
