At this point, I believe the best solution would be WoTC releasing a new separate line dedicated to us Grogs so we can leave you kids in peace.

I would love something like a revamped B/X with new art, better presentation and a few modifications to the rules (ascending AC namely). I swear I would never look at 5e again.

Yes, I know there are quite a few retro clones available out there, but it's not the same as "official D&D" and that counts for me. I know a lot of people who also cares for that.

Isn't there a ton of OSR products or old-school inspired (Forbidden Lands comes to mind) that already brings back that playstyle and aesthetic without some irky stuff?

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

I think the chance that WotC forks their product line to appeal to the small percentage of the base that prefers the older aesthetics when they already have all of those older editions available via PDF is approximately zero.

Bronan the Lax Barbarian: So, what alignment is an elven bard?

Willy the Wiley Warlock: Out of.

Bronan: Out of? I don't understand. Good, evil, Those are alignments. What is "out of" alignment?

Willy: That's what happens at the bottom the cliff.

While bards make an enjoyable splat, nothing compares to the fireworks of a falling druid in metal armor as reality warps around them. It's like a shooting star, really.

They're inherently interesting. Things that are different than I am are inherently interesting to me. I like diversity. What does the orc offer? It's not a human.

Why? They are able to interbreed, they have the same physical characteristics and the are able to create and be part of the same cultures. They have the same lifespan. They have the same ASIs. Outside of setting, what makes them non human except for minor physical differences like teeth alignment and skin color, which are really not good criteria to disqualify for humanity. What criterion can be used to say "this one is a human, that one is an orc", in setting, that wouldn't strike as utterly racist nowadays?

I really don't get the "if they are not entirelly evil there's nothing of worth to have orcs, goblins, etc.. in the game". Just because they were once reduced to an alignment, it doesn't mean they can't be developed in to very interesting cultures. Eberron does it very well. There are multiple goblin cultures, with very clear reasons to exist in the setting. If the only reason a culture or ancestry could exist in your game is to be evil, it says more about your worldbuilding than the usefulness of the ancestry.
