D&D 5E Which played-out D&D trope needs to die?

I think rather than avoiding tropes or trying to reinvent the wheel, often the best thing to do is lean into them hard and make fun of them in clever ways.

I am on board with most fantasy and D&D tropes.

I very much dislike the twist or bait and switch to try to make something grim dark. Esp. if it tries to put a contrived moral dilemma on the character.

The rats are actually townsfolk who have been polymorphed into rats by the evil innkeeper.

Free the rats. Kill the innkeeper.

The Countdown Timer.

I enjoy adventures and campaigns that allow characters room to explore and grow, rather than worrying that if they spend a week of downtime the world will be a week closer to being destroyed.

Even though I'm a loner, I'm going to hang out with this group of random people. I say offensive things because that's what I, the character, would do.

A lot of CRPGs love this one of late. "Surprise! There was no right choice!"
