You say that like it's a bad thing.

All the time, over every little thing...yeah, that's bad. But every now and then, when you feel good about something you did or do, a nice little bet of selfish praise is a good thing. Pride encourages you to keep doing that and do better. Too much pride, well, WHOLE other kettle of biscuits!

I must have, because right now it sounds like you're saying that if someone is proud of what they did and paths themselves on the back, that doing so automatically means they are denigrating others. That's...not what you mean, right? Because that makes no sense at all. Sorry for misunderstanding.

Having an LG Paladin in the party places an obligation on the DM to manufacture moral conundrum after moral conundrum that the Paladin will auto-fail no matter his choice or action ("Gotcha!").
