Doctor Who: The Return of Russell T. Dalek... um, DAVIES

I feel like I'm at Wrestlemania.

I'm seated.

I'm ready for the main event.

And wait .... what's that I hear....

GOOD LORD!

THAT'S RUSSELL T. DAVIES' MUSIC!

For those of you who watch nu-Who, it has been the most shocking of announcements. The BBC has stated that RTD is returning to Doctor Who as the showrunner.

I don't know quite what to think, myself. I'm mulling it over. I'm eternally grateful to RTD for bringing Who back, and for being responsible for some of the most iconic Who moments. But ... I wasn't sad to see him go, either.

The one thing I do know is that people are likely to have opinions. So very many opinions. Anyway, thought I'd see what people other than me are saying!

Well, he was better than Chin-ball. (I like Jodie - it's not her fault that they haven't been good).

I certainly won't argue with you on that! It's a shame, too, because he wrote some great episodes.

Just think that this a bit of a weird choice. There's a whole world of people out there, and as much as I love everything RTD did for the franchise, I'm not sure why they went this direction.

But hey- not my circus, not my monkeys.

So, I like nuWho a lot. But, interestingly... I haven't followed who the showrunners are. Like, I know the names when they get mentioned, but I can't tell you who was running the show when.

But I think Snarf does raise a point - there's a whole slew of folks out there they could have chosen, why go back to him?

Probably looking for some stability at this point, rather than rolling the dice.

He's the one who brought it back in 2005. The show was at its height of popularity under him with David Tennant as the Doctor. While there are many factors contributing to that, it may be that the BBC is trying to recapture the zeitgeist of the late 2000s.

I'm not convinced that will work but its certainly interesting.

He'll flip ya...Flip ya for real...
I loved RTD era of NuWho. I got burned out after he left and Im not sure I've even seen any Chinball stuff. Maybe they want to get folks like me back?

Not sure who was showrunner and when just the earlier seasons were better and a decline in quality late Matt Smith era and it fell off a cliff with Capaldi.
