Level Up (A5E) How does 5.5e/6e impact Level Up?

My understanding of events was that he worked as 'liason' with WotC for Baldur's Gate 3, which allowed WotC to say without technically lying "Mike Mearls is not on the D&D team and hasn't been for some time" only for him to return to the D&D team full time once that assignment, and PR statement, was over. So I think he is still on D&D but I could be wrong.

I'm really curious to see how it plays out with different people using it. I find so much broken about 5e it's hard to isolate variables. But like, I'm just a player so I'm not going to pretend to understand it better than you lmao and a lot of my issues with it are handled by Level Up in other ways. Character depth removes the 5e aspect of the non-caster character sheet feeling superfluous with small modifiers making it feel like the only thing that matters is the raw roll, for example.
Yeah, maneuvers do a lot to help non-casters feel interesting. And without multiclassing, there are only two ways to het both spells and maneuvers: play a Herald or play one specific Ranger subclass. So having to juggle multiple sets of "I can do cool stuff" is very much opt-in.

Are there any feats that allow it, for those people who pick o5e archetypes like War cleric or Hexblade warlock?

Related: there's a product called Multiclass Feats, from Purple Martin Games, that for every 2-class multiclass combo provides a feat that makes them work well together. It requires having each of the two classes at level 3 first, so that you have all the core features of both classes. It seems really good.

Well, that was fun

I have that issue of En5sider! I imagine that those feats can be used unchanged in LU.

I am that designer, BTW. Hello. :)

The EN5ider article was the jumping-off point for the full PDF product, in fact! I will say, though, that the multiclass feats may be a bit less compatible than some O5E products. I used some class features that got pulled from the A5e versions of the classes like Action Surge in a few of them, and I think I was operating on the assumption that the Ranger was a spellcaster for at least one or two. But they should largely work.

HOWEVER, another one of the A5E designers, Andrew Engelbrite, used the general idea of my designs as the basis for the synergy feat chains you'll find in the core rules. So some of the combinations already have that support baked in. In fact, I'm planning to use his Proclaimer (Bard/Herald) feat chain in my very first A5E player character, whenever I get the opportunity to make and play one. (I'm using the Green Knight herald subclass, but I'm not 100% sure which one I'll use for the bard levels yet.)

My problem stems from the fact that we have gotten an average of 2-3 books a year and those books... really dont give you a lot. Most of it is player facing stuff and fluff text. They still have yet to give any sort for the exploration pillar support aside from traps and puzzles. Now, to be fair, its been a moment since I read the DMG, but I really dont remember it giving a lot of actually useful stuff in that area. (If im wrong, I welcome correction.)

The exceptions to this, oddly enough, are the most downplayed of the books, Ravnica, Theros, and Saltmarsh.

I know they don't do as many specific books as 3.5, but this is a turn too far in the other direction imo. Especially when they could produce smaller, specific guidebooks, like SCAG but better.

I can't help but view wotc using 3pp as an excuse to not try and innovate. Which, from a business standpoint, is fair. Though I expect more/better quality from a billion dollar company.
Personally, I do t think WotC coast needs to expand or continually add more crunch ever really. All I need is the core books to play for years if not decades

I like a regular stream of new crunch myself, but to each their own.

However, I'll be buying less of it from WotC now! Level Up is superior to O5e in basically every possible regard as far as I'm concerned. I'll be standardizing on it for my fantasy gaming.
