Looks like Spelljammer and/or Planescape is back on the menu!

Yeah, I know. My players would instantly look up the suffocation rules and laugh. “So what? I’m perfectly fine for 1 + CON mod minutes. I ignore it and keep going.”
Yeah yeah, it would never fly as an effective combat manuever... BUT, I'd happly allow one of the psychos at my table to murder some random guard with this in a case where asking for initiative would be just a bother.

This might not be connected to the new product, I say this because if it's being announced this month, why not just call it Spelljammer Unearthed Arcana?

Probably a scheduling thing.

For example, let's say the Boo/Beholder cover is for this Spelljammer book. Crawford needs to start releasing UA rules for the book now, so they can see survey results and tweak them based on feedback. But the covers for this book are not entirely ready yet (the Boo cover was just a sketch so far). So they can't announce the book today, but the do need to release UA today.

Instead, the release the UA under the "Travelers of the Multiverse" name. Once the covers are done, they'll make the announcement. They may have not even settled on a release day yet, because of the shipping crisis.

That said, we'll probably get an announcement this month. Just look out for the placeholder on Amazon!

Imagine your a BBEG and get shot in the back, which kills you, cuz a Plasmoid pc sniped you with a Cantrip, or a Fireball spell, from underneath the open crevice space between the bottom of the door and the floor.

Plasmoids finally redeem the crappiness of the Assassin subclass?

Actually, wait, still no. Casters don’t necessarily need to wear anything, but they do need to carry either a spellcasting focus or material components. Currently monk is really the only class that can take full advantage of amorphous without losing functionality in other areas. Which, fair enough I guess, but I still think some limited natural armor and/or a natural weapon would be a good addition to the ancestry.
My hot take is that the intent is unless you specifically build for a nudist Plasmoid, Amorphous is an outside of combat trick. Because it's not just weapons and armor, it's all your bags and pouches and plot tokens and unsold loot. And note that you still have advantage on grapples and all the functionality of Shape Shift at your disposal. You just have to pour yourself out of your armor to slip under a door, which I think is a fair compromise.

Though a way to fast-don armor again wouldn't be a bad thing to have. Hmm, Armor Artificer Plasmoid?

Artificer PLasmoid is the closest we will ever be to flubber.... I'M SOLD

So have a small-sized plasmoid monk. Carry it around in a satchel or bag. One PC throws the bag into the room and most enemies wouldn't pay any attention. Or have the PC throw the plasmoid directly at the target for a fastball special. The plasmoid monk is focused on grappling a target's head, effectively blinding and deafening the target, and constantly hitting the target from all sides.

If you built a bladelock with Armor of Shadows and Improved Pact Weapon, you'd be able to get away with it reasonably well.

But I think it's overall fine. You can't just go anywhere you want; you can sneak into places if you're willing to only bring small stuff with you - something you might be able to take advantage of with a bit of planning/creativity.
