There are no other races, there is only Elf.

Wood elf, high elf, sun elf, aquatic elf: elves
Humans: proto-elf
Bugbear, goblin, goliath, hobgoblin, kobold, orc: war elves
Kenku, Aarakokra: bird elves
Gnomes, halflings: keebler elves
Merfolk, triton: fish elves
Lizardfolk, tortle, yuan-ti: reptile elves
Minotaurs, satyrs, centaurs, firbolgs: barn elves
Leonin, Tabaxi: cat elves
Dwarf, duergar, deep gnomes: dirt elves
Aasimir, genasi, giths (both), shadar kai, tiefling: space elves
Warforged: mecha-elves
Based on how middle-ages people would call anything magical "faerie", yes, I do think that this is pretty accurate from a certain point of view.

I'm implying that the idea sounds unpleasant at first, but on second thought, it kinda makes sense.
Well, if we go with the basis that elves are ''everchanging spirit kin'' then you could have humans, fey-touched/half-elves, and all other races be variation of elves.

That's pretty close to what the Elder Scrolls did. Even their dwarves are elves, and it kinda makes sense.

You could have Prime Elves: Wood elves, high elves, deep elves (drow), stone elves (dwarves), mountain elves (goliath), sea elves, storm elves (orcs).

Then Planar Elves: Faer'ii (tieflings), Gloom Elves (Shardar kai), Celestial elves (4e Deva/Rakshasa elves), Undying (radiant-undead ala Eberron), Elemental elves (genasi), Astral/Timeless elves (Gith), Eladrin (seasonal fey).

Play with that dichotomy:
Elves are unaffected by time, but deeply affected by their relation with the space they settle in.
Human are super flexible and can adapt any terrain or to any terrain to suit their need, but Time is their weakness.

Tiefling variants are only different ability score increases and different innate spells. Tasha’s makes the ability score increase part irrelevant, and having nine races that are exactly the same but with different innate spells seems unlikely.

I imagine this is what they’ll do, if they decide to represent the tiefling variants.

Thinking about it, I wouldn't mind them redoing Aasimar to better fit the lore on them.

This is just silly, thanks to Darksun we know every is descended from Halflings, not Elves 😁🤣😂.

I really hope that Aasimar, Genasi, and Tieflings become Lineages (like the Hexblood) in their redone forms. It's unlikely for this book, but maybe in the revised PHB that's coming out in about 2 years?

I want any race to be able to be planetouched, and the Dhampir/Hexblood/Reborn format is probably the best way to do it in D&D 5e.

On the contrary, the product description says specifically:
  • Includes the debut of Monsters of the Multiverse, a comprehensive resource for players and Dungeon Masters alike, containing over 30 updated player character races and a massive bestiary with over 250 redesigned monsters and stat blocks, all for use in any D&D world.
So, about 31 options, maybe a few more. Probably not going to repeat the Tieflijg variants (due to the Tasha's rules), and Setting specific options like Warforgex or Kalashtar.

Folks from WotC have said multiple time that the 30+ races does not include setting-specific ones, so something that is so attached to a setting like the Warforged will not be in the book.
