D&D General RL Non Metallic Weapon's.

Went to the museum today. In the Southern People and People's of the Pacific part they had a variety of weapons and tools from the Pacific. Thought I would share here as they're cool, probably not that common overseas and Darksun inspiration.


14th Century Maori pounamu adzes.

Clubs from Fiji/Tonga/Niue. No clubs used in Mandalorian though.

Papua New Guinea. Those spears are quite long. Would hurt.

My favorite will always be the Macahuitl (a wooden club with obsidian blades attached to the sides, used by the natives of Mesoamerica, most notably by the Mayans and Aztecs).

Yep obsidian can be very sharp. Bit short of Aztecs here. There were normal swords in a different section.

Yep obsidian can be very sharp.

Extremely sharp, it's my understanding that it can theoretically be sharpened to a finer edge than steel can

That's my understanding as well. Very fragile though.

Swords don't even need to be that sharp.

FWIW, the Encyclopedia of Weapons is one of my favorite non-gaming resource books for RPGs. Lots of good stuff!

While there isn’t much real depth to the Compendium, it covers a LOT of different gear around the world. Most importantly, there’s also a conversion guide that gives you a general idea of how to model any of the gear within it in systems other than Palladium’s.

I've always liked the atlatl. Chuck those spears farther and with more force than just hurling. The world record atlatl throw is 848 feet.
