It's a shame they're MtG creatures, because the small cackler demons from Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica could really fill the goblin niche.

I could see these guys as replacements for the Pathfinder 1E style of goblin that sings gleefully about killing dogs and eating babies.

They have the Mimicry trait to mimic sounds and voices, so they could lay ambushes by mimicking past victims' cries for help or whatever. They also have Tasha's Hideous Laughter once per day, which is also good for incapacitating victims and forcing them to laugh as they get chopped down.
Although it could be fun for, say, a Diablo style game, it's completely unnecessary. Just say, "In this setting and game, goblins are inherently evil chaos spawn with no redeeming qualities unless you hate babies and dogs." Nobody can make killing goblins by the dozen ethically problematic except you.

You haven't met my players. They are capable of taking the most straight-forward adventure hooks and turn them into an ethical dilemma faster than Chidi on the Good Place...
there is a scene (no spoiler) where this character is 'tested' by being forced to choose 1 hat from 2. They are similar, and he only needs to wear one for a minute... he just has to choose what one. There are 0 consequences to the choice, and he can reasonable know that. he fails this test.

I can gaurantee you if you line up 100 random players of D&D and make there character have a similar test at least 1/3 of them would ALSO fail it.

My players can absolutely turn a "rescue the princess" scenario into an argument about whether they should support the monarchy or join the dragon.

I love playing with smart people who have compatible senses of humor but it does make adventure design a challenge...
