LOL why bother?

Just make those thing Invocations and go with Warlock, choosing your patron/source. Nix/nerf the spellcasting for other abilities/invocations.
Warlock is built to cast spells.

If Hexblade were its own no casting class, sure.

My Paragon class is basically a Warlock with no spells nor cantrips, fixed bonus ASI, and a D12 HD, It's the easiest and most balanced way to run a member of a mortal race with special powers.

except that I always see people want to compare +3 weapon +3 armor ring of prot and 2-3 misc items to a wizard with a scroll or two or maybe a potion.
Then I feel a bit badly for you because I never see that... If that is your experience it isn't any wonder you started the thread.

so do the example. Give me 2 equally well equiped equally well made characters 1 spell caster 1 non spellcaster and make both equally useful in all ways...

5e doesn't have level adjustments.

The way to model in 5e is a setting based class.
I didn't mention anything about level adjustments. I said race, and 5e has race. I also said templates, and 5e even has a few of those. The way to model what you described is through race and templates. Or better fighter abilities at high level.

25-30% of your spell selection isn't negligible IMO, but if you feel so then fine.
The question is always, compared to what? An 18 Int Wizard at level 11 who devotes 4 spells to attacking Str, Con, Int, Wis still has 11 spells left over. That is the same amount as a Sorcerer of the same level.

Seems to me that the cost for a fighter to be merely “adequate” in social encounters is higher.

do all fighters have plate or carry 180lbs?

So i went through the fighter in my games equipment... it is about half that (97lbs) and I looked at my last PC warrior and he had less then that...neither are in plate
This is a Red Herring. It doesn't matter if all of them do. If some of them do and can jump 60 feet... And I'd bet the world class jumpers wouldn't do nearly as well if you strapped 100 pounds to their backs.

Interesting. I'm interested in a vampire type character and a Dhampir fighter isn't doing it for me. Got a link to your paragon class?

I disagree. Since in 5e, a character jumps the same distance whether they aren’t wearing anything or just short of fully encumbered, comparing real world records to a fighter in plate is just as relevant as comparing it to a fighter not wearing armor.

By that measure, a 20th level fighter is weaker than a peak human.

As has been noted vociferously by some in other threads, D&D never claimed to be a simulation.

For me, I just wish it wouldn't be so ebulliently flagrant about what it isn't simulating sometimes.
