The latest Unearthed Arcana has arrived and the 6-page document contains rules for kender, lunar magic, Knights of Solamnia, and Mages of High Sorcery.

In today’s Unearthed Arcana, we explore character options from the Dragonlance setting. This playtest document presents the kender race, the Lunar Magic sorcerer subclass, the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery backgrounds, and a collection of new feats, all for use in Dungeons & Dragons.

Kender have a (surprisingly magical) ability to pull things out of a bag, and a supernatural taunt feature. This magical ability appears to replace the older 'kleptomania' description -- "Unknown to most mortals, a magical phenomenon surrounds a kender. Spurred by their curiosity and love for trinkets, curios, and keepsakes, a kender’s pouches or pockets will be magically filled with these objects. No one knows where these objects come from, not even the kender. This has led many kender to be mislabeled as thieves when they fish these items out of their pockets."

Lunar Magic is a sorcerer subclass which draws power from the moon(s); there are notes for using it in Eberron.

Also included are feats such as Adepts of the Black, White, and Red Robes, and Knights of the Sword, Rose, and Crown.

Yes, Dragonlance is a "old glory", the closest to "vintage/retro" (medieval) fantasy but also a lot of old franchises were for a long time until the revival, for example Transformers or my litle pony. Think about the new series of Star Trek. The IP deserves a second opportunity.

* I suggest a little retcon to add more ursines in Taladas, maybe former slaves by the minotaur empire.

* How would be a Dark Sun version of Absalon+Taladas in an alternate timeline?

* Could the dark clouds of the Krynnspace to be linked to the Shadowfell or the demiplane of the dread?

* Power Rangers aren't rebooted if a crossover with the different teams can appear together in a crossover event.

* Some unitentional offenses are possible, and then we should apology, but also be forgiven. Let's be gentlemen, please.

* We don't talk only about the reboot of the TTRPG, but also the possibles changes in a videogame or TV-show production.

Now do the same for all the message you wrote since the last 5 years. (I'm joking... just in case...) :)

I think you avoid the problem I've posed to your attention, but don't want to force your answer. I'm simply sorry for that. This is not the first time this issues emerges in this forum, proving the fact that is a real issue. But i feel the general mood is not so open to arguing about it, so maybe it's better if we let the whole discussion fade away.
No. I didn't avoid your problem. I addressed it directly. You claimed that you found something offensive and I acted in the appropriate manner. I didn't assume bad faith. I didn't assume that you needed to "prove" to me that you were sufficiently offended. You claimed you were offended, I took that to be a good faith statement and I removed took what I felt was the best action possible- removing the offending material and apologizing.

What more could be asked?

At this rate we will only end up with slight variations of Care Bears, having said that I am sure some people would still find a way to be offended on behalf of some group or other.

Mod Note:

You probably want to go review our inclusivity policy before continuing in this discussion - we don't accept such accusations of insincerity as a valid form of discourse.

Maybe, but really I see a lot more reason to set it hundreds of years on than back in the WotL. Not much point in doing that unless you are redoing all the modules as well. Which would make for a very big book.

Which is possible, since they mentioned new formats - maybe they are doing a boxed set with several books?
I think there is a pretty decent chance of something like this: the Strixhaven book was mostly Adventure, for instance. Merging the product streams these days.

In your idea nobody can write about a race of kleptomaniac? Your approach is to censor a concept just because it let you remember something wrong with a free wheel chain of associations that are driven by similarity, not logic nor causality. This is the magical way of thinking.
No one should do it, because of the negative connotations it carries in the real world. Real-world people are more important than an imaginary game we play. We really don't lose anything by such a concept not being in a published work by a particular game company. You're free to include it in your own games if you like.

Just to clarify to you my concept: If Kender were depicted as Romani in a clear iconographic way
That's what you're missing - the association of Romani with thievery is so strong that any race of people who are all thieves are implicitly tied to that view. It sucks, but it's a fact. And as a publisher, you have to consider that fact. WotC can't pretend that association doesn't exist in reality.

The world is full of people like you that find a simple similarity between a trope and a stereotype sufficient to be offended. Your argument is not convincing.
That's nice. Now, if you were in charge of publishing DragonLance, this would be relevant. The point of this discussion is to point out that lots and lots of people do find it convincing. So the idea that WotC should just ignore them because some other people do not find it convincing is untenable. They have to consider the audience as a whole. If a significant proportion of their audience do find it convincing, their views are no less valid and must be considered. So yes, they need to err on the side of being less offensive. If you want the offending stuff in your game, just add it in yourself. No one's stopping you.

The Bond movies haven't really been reboots. They've just been continuations with different actors.
So is Sean Connery’s Bond, who was active in the 60’s, the same person as Craig’s Bond, active 50 years later?

If not, why do they have the same name? The fact that 007 is a designation has been confirmed in the movies, but the “James Bond” name is not associated with the 007 rank. In the latest James Bond, Bond continues to go by James Bond even after he leaves MI6, and the new 007 doesn’t go by James Bond.

What about Ernst Stravo Blofeld? Is the Christopher Waltz version the sane character who was killed 60 years ago? What about Felix Leiter? Somewhere along the line he turned into a black man? Why is everyone surprised by the existence of Spectre in the Craig Bond films if it is the same entity they have been fighting since the 60s?

The Bond films are pretty clearly reboots.

More or less, yes. They don't restart his history as time goes on. It's not a reboot like they do with Spiderman who every 10 years gets bitten by a new spider and starts a newish take on Spiderman.

James Bond is the person. Only the 00 designation goes to a new agent. They aren't reboots, because nothing is rebooted. Yes, they make some minor changes to minor characters over the years. These movies are just continuations of the same character, but updated with the times.
