“Oh man. Well, what I will say is we had a hell of a fun time making it. There was a lot of laughs. The way that I've been describing it, it's like Game of Thrones mixed with a little Princess Bride, just a smidge of Holy Grail; it's somewhere in that ballpark. It's a lot of fun. It's got a lot of thrills. It's poppy, it's eighties heartfelt, there's a bit of Goonies in there. My character, he's the ultimate party planner. I think it's going to be really good. I mean, who naughty word knows, but I think we got a good shot and John and John are killer guys. They know comedy and they know heart and we had a great cast and we had a good time making it. And that's all you can ask for.”

The movie also stars Hugh Grant as the bad guy, along with Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Regé-Jean Page.

I appreciate the production value of The Witcher, so if that's what you mean then fair enough. But if you mean the writing, that show is kind of a mess for those who know nothing about the Witcher going into it. I know so many people who should like it but who walked away after a few episodes because of how confusing it was. I get that fans of the Witcher like the show, and I am happy those fans have a show they like. But it's not a good model for a general appeal fantasy movie or show in my opinion.

Yup, that was me. Took me a heck of a long time to realize, probably embarrassingly long to be honest, that there was two time lines being shown here. :(

Then again, second season was really straight forward and, honestly, probably not as good of a story as the first season. Go figure.

I do NOT want a funny Dungeons & Dragons Movie. I don't give a &^%$ about how people talk to each other at their gaming sessions. I want something DARK! I want a movie that looks like those paintings on the covers of those &^%$%^# books from the 70s and 80s! I want parents and religious leaders to FEAR this game again, all due to what is shown in the film! Make it forbidden fruit that brings forbidden knowledge!

You...realize that the books from the 70's and 70's had campy and funny art, right...? Of theybwant to provide a tone similar to old Basic and Advanded Dungeons & Dragons, them Marvel movies are a good tonal touchstone: a little hunore, q lot of camp, fun action, aimed at teens.

Yea, I wouldn't say "evil" so much as "campy", they are pretty silly and googy, which is why Pqramoujt is going for the tone that they are. There's always this, the classic "poke a mushroom with a sword":

That guy is testing that with his sword to make sure it is safe. It is DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, so there should be a good chance that it IS NOT SAFE! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

I feel most gamers want to see a serious big budget film, like a Dragonlance, but Hollywood thinks gamers want to see a big budget production of The Gamers.
I am cool with a Guardians of the Galaxy type D&D movie (which is what this sounds like). If that's not your thing, cool. But I don't think such a concept would be met with anger by the D&D community in general.
