All,
I have a potential big fight coming for my players and want to ensure I am using the new encounter design math correctly.
I have 5 level 4 players (so they are a Tier 1 party as I understand it). A hard fight for this group is a total CR of 10 according to the chart.
The fight includes a CR6 legendary wolf. That gives 4 left in the CR budget. I am using a pack of regular wolves along with it, that are CR 1/4. However, since the party is Tier 1, I am supposed to treat them as CR 1/2. So that means 8 CR 1/2 wolves to give me the 4 left I have in the budget.
So we have 1 CR 6 wolf and 8 wolves as a hard encounter for 5 4th level characters. Did I calculate everything correctly? I wasn't sure if there was any kind of "multiple monster" multiplier you use in LU.
