For those of us who remember the glory days of Dragon Magazine when it introduced us to games from other publishers as well as supported D&D, this is kind of sad. Understandable. But sad.
My memory says the vast majority of those were just other TSR games

Depends on when you read it. In the 80s and early 90s they definitely introduced me to games I wouldn't have otherwise known about through their review columns, as well as the occasional article about a non-TSR game system. Later in the 90s and then after Wizards took over they definitely moved to being a "house organ" for TSR and then Wizards.

It was basically a house organ years before WotC took over. But the Dragon is what led me to Traveller.

I remember reading articles about Paranoia and having my mind blown - in a good way. When I found it on a shelf eventually I grabbed a copy just because of those articles.

Reverse the question - why would they want to commit funds to supporting those other games? Beyond generating good will?
Microsoft makes a good show as of late supporting linux with their dev tools, Azure, and such. That recurring per user revenue really looks good on the books.

That thread is over here:

I meant in relation to this thread and the idea of WotC buying Foundry (which makes, like, no sense at all).

Why not TaleSpire (3D virtual tabletop) and HeroForge?

Sometimes I have thought if Disney doesn't go very well, at least Marvel and StarWars would be adquired by Hasbro. I didn't want to say it to not look fooler even, but now I suspect this is a very bad year for Disney, because they are losing a lot of prestige by fault of certain threads no-linked with the products.

Why should try again a merger with Mattel? They tried it and it failed. Also Hasbro tried to adquire Lions Gate.

Hasbro could buy more companies for the value of the brands, but maybe it would rather to see create cash-cows with its own IPs its owns.
