For anyone who is interested, I have this up:

Ravnica is a good model but Ravnica is a 256 page book, no a 64 page one. I think at some point we need to accept there's a real and immutable difference between those lol. I mean, I'm sure there's some monster and stuff in there, but are there even 64 pages of them? Hell even if there were that's still 192 pages of setting/rules. Instead of 64.

There's just no way it works unless they change from 64x3.
About 80 pages of Bestiary. Ravnica has a lot of monsters, and a lot of reskining advice to spice up existing monsters.

A big bulk of the rest is Adventure material. The more I look at it, the more I see the seeds if the Spelljammer format.

I don't think there would be an innate issue with Slavery in Dark Sun, it's just something the villains do.
The people in the real world would still object to its presence.
The Neogi still exist after all and will be in Spelljammer, their entire culture is based around being slavers.
A monster enslaving a monsters is not going to raise quite the same objections as a human enslaving a human. Besides, it’s one culture in the multiverse of options in Spelljammer. With Dark Sun, it’s literally everywhere. Big difference.

But they already have that in current 5E products...?

They have it in q bunch of books. It's not as taboo for villains as you seem to think?
Again, there’s a huge, huge difference between a few lines in the neogi description or the drow description that involve slavery and publishing a 200+ page book detailing an entire fantasy world that’s defined by rampant slavery.

I think an Adventure about working to overthrow the System would make sense, for precisely that reason.

Absolutely. Or at least a 1-20 AP where they eliminate a single sorcerer-king and end slavery in that city-state.

But across the whole of Athas? That would drastically alter the setting. Something most fans wouldn’t like.
