Well, we did get a Thri-Kreen this time and they made a big deal about removing an article mentioning something that if they didn't think would be a big deal next year, they just would not have cared and not removed it. Now if we get an "edited" version of the Chart and Arthas isn't there, and instead labeled "Not THERE!" land, then something is up.

Because I DO remember looking at the article earlier.

Well, if they want us old folks to buy it they might want to care about the old settings as actually published back-in-the-day. Everyone I know that's a Dragonlance fan is excited about the module but couldn't care less about the battle game. I have basically no interest in Dragonlance either way, but I've been a fan of Dark Sun since it was first released...and I couldn't care less about a Dark Sun battle game. And not to put too fine a point on it, TSR and WotC's track record for battle or skirmish games is...not stellar.

They don't care about the bolded part as a product strategy. Any of us over 24 are "nice to have" for WotC, not the focus. See also, Ravenloft and Spelljammer.

Setting revivals are for new and young customers, not older ones. Why reinvent the wheel entirely of Gothic fantasy when perfectly good IP is sitting around in the form of Ravenloft?

If the battle game sells, they will try it with different Settings than Dragonlance. Dark Dun is a strong candidate.

Hypothesis: "Doomspace" is, in fact, Athasspace, but during development they decided "Doomspace" sounded better, and they wanted to play it cool that Athas plays a role in their Spelljammer campaign. So this is a mistake using older versions of the art, that aspoils that surprise.

My theory is we will see a "spin-off" as a bridge between the original Athas and the rest of the D&D Multiverse. Maybe the faction from the module "the black spine" is the reason of the stop between both sides.

* Ravenloft was "retouched" to allow more creative flexibility for creators. Some old domains would be very interesting but only for one-shot adventure.
