I think of it like the Druid, Wizard, Bard, Cleric, and Sorcerer are different classes using the same spellcasting chassis.

If the Warlock and the Psion are different classes using the same spellcasting chassis, that would be normal.

"Channeling" an external "patron" via a "ritual" using a "tome", is the opposite of a Psion.

A Psion is an assertion of ones own will over reality itself. The reality-bending is something that a mind can do. The magic is personal, mindful, and innate.

Even the name "Warlock" itself is inappropriate for Psion flavor.

The Warlock flavor is unacceptable.

psion does not mean aberration and more importantly, warlock is defined by working with or for something, a psion is much like a wizard it does not need others for their power.

Yes, new options are increasingly esoteric. That’s why I wouldn't expect any new Classes anytime soon: there is much conceptual space.

the basic themes are remarkably similar each time so it just needs mechanics which I assume wotc knows how to do.

See also, the Tasha's options, which are more significant than 1E Psionics at least.

That is an interesting fiction. The reason they tried 3 different systems of psionic rules was because the fans DO want psionics, they just didn't want the ways WotC implemented. You don't have 3 UA's for psionics because no one wants it. You have 3 weak attempts with no iterative design before abandoning for the subclass route which also did not meet the 70% bar.

The thing is, over the course of those 3 UAs, the demographics of people playing D&D changed. The people who were in the majority aren’t any more, and the new majority doesn’t care about psionics having a separate system than spells. They do like the concepts, but they just want those concepts to be easy to learn and play, instead of having to learn new casting mechanics.

You quoted Warlock class texts that mention and refer to a "patron". A "pact" is with an external power.

All of the Warlock flavor is wrong for the Psion.
