Something silly:how would you fine people make transformers toys into dnd 5th edition terms? I figure that preceptor might make a good import for wizards at least.

Other than the dicelings that are coming out, I'd do a line of fantasy figures that turn into various creatures (think Beast Wars, but instead of "robot" form, it'd be adventurer form). Maybe throw in some famous items/artifacts.

  • Owlbear transforms into druid (duh!)
  • Paladin becomes a griffin or a "dancing" holy avenger
  • Troll into a Carrion Crawler
  • Lich into a Dracolich
  • Strahd into a Vampire bat (or Wolf ... or both)
  • Mind Flayer into a Kraken
  • Chest mimic
  • Wizard into a Dragon
  • Barbarian into a Bear ... or a Triceratops
  • Halfling into a Bullette :D

etc.

I do like the idea of characters who can transform between class-levelled humanoid constructs and D&D-appropriate vehicles or magic items. Like, one character transforms into a stagecoach, one transforms into a sailing ship, another transforms into a flying carpet.

If you want to go Beast Wars, there's a Druid subclass in Keith Baker's Exploring Eberron, particularly suited to warforged but available to anyone, that allows you to wildshape into construct versions of beasts with enhanced stats.
