D&D 5E Paizo's 'The Abomination Vaults' Pathinder AP Coming to 5E

Paizo is set to release one of its adventure paths--The Abomination Vaults--for D&D 5E in November. The AP will be compiled as a hardcover and retail for $59.99. There will also be a Pathfinder 2E version of the hardcover.

The 3-part adventure path was originally released for Pathfinder 2E in early 2021, and is a big dungeon crawl adventure.

When the mysterious Gauntlight, an eerie landlocked lighthouse, glows with baleful light, the people of Otari know something terrible is beginning. Evil stirs in the depths of the Abomination Vaults, a sprawling dungeon where a wicked sorcerer attempted to raise an army of monsters hundreds of years ago. The town's newest heroes must venture into a sprawling dungeon filled with beasts and traps to prevent a spiteful spellcaster from rising again!

I don't know how familiar you are with Paizo, but most of their APs go that way, albeit with different backdrops and starting events, as well as some ramping up at drastically different rates.

And to be fair, WoTC hasn't really been doing that recently. The adventure anthologies aside (which have absolutely none of that), Rime of the Frostmaiden was a pretty slow start in an area that's always perpetually kinda awful. But you're right, the streak has been pretty consistent over the years from Dragons to Tharizdun to the Demon Lords to Giants to Acererak.

Yeah their anthologies are my favorite adventure books. And CoS.

I suspect this will be a major undertaking to convert. The assumptions for a 5E adventure are considerably different than Pathfinder 2. In Pathfinder you're pretty much going into every combat at full HP, which is definitely not the case in 5E.

That's not what that means: they are expecting a March 2023 release so you have to pre-order -- when they activate the button, of course. if you look at any of their products that aren't out yet, this is how they present them.

Nice to see Age of Worms mentioned so much and so positively. Saldy Age of Worms was published in Dungeon Magazine, which was at that time run by Paizo - who at this time was much smaller than it is today. This means that is caught in lawyer hell and likely cannot be republished.

Oh ye of little faith. With enough money and will anything pretty much is possible. Now, Hasbro and Paizo both have money (Hasbro probably 100x Paizo; but PAizo's got RPG-sized "money"). And then the will? We can give them the will by talking about it All. The. Time. Witness Spelljammer...

+1 to that. I'd love to see them do almost all of them. I don't like pirates, so those are meh - but the rest? Yes please.

Paizo does not own the rights to Age of Worms, WotC does. WotC could publish a 5e version of this adventure if they wanted, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Well, they might, but the whole thing will be levels 3-8, Kyuss will totally just be misunderstood antihero, and the coverart will feature a cutesy chibi-larva-mage that can be a mascot for the adventure and feature prominently in branded toys. /s
