D&D (2024) Input sought: Tabaxi in D&D One

I'm going to use the playtest to 'upgrade' the four 2nd-level characters in a campaign I'm running for some kids. We've got a dragonborn, a tabaxi, an aasimar, and a wood elf. I can base the aasimar off ardlings, but what should I do for tabaxi? Leave them as they are, or should they be tweaked to be more "D&D One-like"?

The Aasimar and Tabaxi in Monsters of the Multiverse ARE the One D&D version of those races. Use those.

This. They haven't changed anything about how the mechanics work, so nothing needs to be updated just to fit with a new "philosophy" of how races are built.

No, no you don't. You either get one or the other. From the playtest packet, page 11.

ABILITY SCORE INCREASES FROM ELSEWHERE
Since 2014, characters have received ability score
increases from several sources, either from a Race
that has the Ability Score Increase trait or from
the ability score rules in Tasha’s Cauldron of
Everything, Monsters of the Multiverse, and other
books. If you make a character using one of those
older sources and get ability score increases from
it, the character doesn’t also get ability score
increases from Background, unless you forgo the
older ability score increases to gain the increases
from the Background rules here.

Actually, clarification sought on two of those feats:

For Savage Attacker, "you can roll the Weapon's damage dice twice" doesn't include Sneak Attack, does it?

No. Sneak Attack dice are not weapon dice.

For Lucky, the description for Advantage explicitly says it's after the roll, but for Disadvantage it doesn't specify. They could have said "before" but they didn't. How would you rule on that?

Before. You'd need to impose it when the attack is announced, not after you know the result.

I think any character from current materials with their Background Feature swapped for one of the playtest feats will play on par with a playtest materials generated character.
