D&D 5E Being strong and skilled is a magic of its own or, how I learned to stop worrying and love anime fightin' magic

There were tons of humans on earth claiming divine heritage... And we cannot claim to have frequent verified gods hanging out here, in a fantasy world with verifiable miracles why no?. Realistically sometimes this is an explanation of ego and "maybe" some competence. Alexander the Great was plying the greek tendency but the entire nobility of some countries are considered to be of some divine heritage or being the descendents of Dragons

But that's the whole trouble.

Myth, legends, anime, and superhero comics are the only real genres that lean into post level 10 martial content. Action movies sometimes but you see there is an argument over that in this thread.

So D& martials end up with a lot of Nos and no Yes. However the game with age away from the older fans as the younger ones will say Yes and influence design more and more until they themself are the official D&D designers.

There is a lot of anime I enjoy beside Lodoss War, although much of it is commonly known:

Studio Ghibli:
  • Spirited Away
  • Princess Mononoke
  • The Secret World of Arrietty
  • The Wind Rises
  • Nausicaa (Valley of the Wind)
  • Kiki's Delivery Service
  • Howl's Moving Castle
  • Castle in the Sky
  • Tales from Earthsea
As well as:
  • Akira
  • Ghost in the Shell
  • Tank Girls
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Inuyasha
  • Escaflowne
  • Fist of the North Star
  • DB/DBZ
  • Street Fighter
  • Robotech
  • Thunderbirds
and more...
Overlord!

I have seen Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle. I also saw The Cat Returns which was not listed and enjoyed them all.

But as much as I like them, most of them don't fit my vision of D&D and I wouldn't want to see most of the exploits in these as part of D&D.
Of I saw and liked Akira, Cowboy Bebop (my favorite anime), Ghost In the Shell, Inuyasha, and Robotech. I didn't care for Fist of the North Star, DB/DBZ or Streetfighter. I also liked Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Outlaw Star (another favorite), Blood+, The Gokusen, One Piece (only seen about thirty episodes), Log Horizon, and Sword Art Online (of the last two, I forget which I didn't care for a later season).

However, I too would not want to see most of the exploits in D&D for any of the above. Then again, If my players wanted any above, I would hapilly go to Big Eyes Small Mouth, Mecha and Manga (for Mutants & Masterminds 2e), or, maybe, OVA, Anime5e. or BESM d20 (much like if people were bringing up Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Batman, Wolverine, etc , I would pull out Icons: Assembled, BASH: UE, or Marvel Heroic)..
