WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Is that really needed though? I'm a bit of a hardcore fan, but I've never been into the lore or settings of D&D. Which I assume is where you get the message your talking about?

I dont see how it needs to be all or nothing, or that by providing one thing, additional things cannot also be accounted for.

In short, yes it kind of is needed, for me.

You are mistaking the framework for content. The framework itself doesn't have to convey a message, or ask the audience questions. It has to provide an opportunity for the players to convey their own messages, ask their own questions. Or, at least have a good time mucking about in tactical scenarios for the giggles, Mountain Dew, and chips.

I dont think I am. The framework you are right doesnt need to convey a message, but...I'm not getting much of a message from any of the books that came after the framework (PHB/MM/DMG) either.

You both are right, providing the framework, and allowing imagination to take off is the starting point, but why do we not have the next step, or is it there, but since I'm not the market (or dont believe I am) I'm simply not looking for a message that does exist?

Navel gazing, really, in what is mostly a tongue in cheek thread. :)

and all of that because....(let's be honest here, OP) WotC doesnt support the Forgotten Realms in the same way you'd like it.

that's a burning hot take. wow.

we've gone from '' Ed should sue everyone at WotC for 1 hundred bi-trilions dollars '' to '' WotC should die from th actions of an imploding sentient black-hole made of raw money! ''

cant wait to see the next overreaction.

You don’t want a Musk if you want this

Yeah. There's a myth out there that good leadership is about knowing what product should be made, and ordering people to make it, and making rules for workers to follow - as if the person at the top knows how the work actually gets done.

That authority-driven model has been found lacking for a long time.

Good leadership is about helping the organization choose its strategy, and then finding and supporting folks as they work to fulfill that strategy.

Again, even the adventures are really framework, just more detailed framework with more color and details to work with.

As soon as you get into "message", you lose everyone who isn't interested in that particular message. To be the 800 lb gorilla, your appeal has to be broad, so your messages are similarly broad.

Because the next step isn't WotC's to make. Look in DMs Guild - that's the next step.
