WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

I deal in dead tree products, I dont do digital that can be changed on a whim after I have purchased it.
Yeah, this. If I've bought something, I want to actually own it, and not run the risk that some middle-management or efficiency consultant jerk will casually economise it out of existence some cloudy Thurday. Music, software, movies, whatever. Subscription models are the devil.

Okay, let's continue the thought experiment a bit. What if WotC didn't change anything about the mechanics for the products you want the 5e mechanics for? Would your opinion change?

If they do not refresh the book mechanically, do not add anything mechanically, change no lore, then it would be quite literally a reprint (or reformat) with a new cover?

At that point, I would question why I would need it.

Keep in mind however you are talking to a guy who refuses to buy a book because WotC removed a minor restriction on Alignment, for an optional Feat.

That is basically what I want yes.
Wow. I was mostly joking/oversimplifying in that post. It's crazy to see that this is actually what you want. That's absolutely anathema to me. I don't want to buy the same book over and over again. That's a waste of money to me, even if they're several years/even decades between release.

And as a newby game designer, I would hate having to do that.

That trian has already left the station: Setting and Adventure books are pretty solidly merged now.
Not really. They put lore in there, but they cannot expect that people will buy them to get the lore. I'm not paying $40 for a few pages of lore and a ton of useless pages of adventure.

Funny/Sad thing is, my company runs under such a model, and yes the product can and will change based upon our desires/needs, and there's nothing the clients can do about it.

Eberron didn't detail much about three whole continents, and SCAG didn't detail everything about the area outside of a larger slice of Setting.
SCAG didn't detail anything, not even the Sword Coast. It did mention a little bit about the Sword Coast and almost nothing of the larger setting. On the other hand, Eberron had MUCH more information in the 300+ pages dedicated to it.

If someone wants lore on Chult, Tomb of Annihilation is the way to go. They not only expect people to buy that...they have.
