Immortals Handbook: Ascension 3.5E Print version...do you want one?

Hey Beefermatic buddy! :)

Not simply 'legit', but top of the range, glossy paged, ribbon* bookmark, signed collector's edition. ;)

*Wondering what colour would suit it best...?
Very nice! I love it!

I'd say white, the hardcover version of the Epic Bestiary was black. Of course, you could always make it black as well so it matches

Hello again amigo! :)

Very nice! I love it!

I appreciate the support. Big thank you to everyone who keeps this Publisher Forum afloat with content. I know I am a useless dosser with updates and that's partly because I am spending so much time on this 5E book that I feel guilty when I do something else. Have virtually cut out all gaming* and television* in an effort to grind my way out of a quagmire of the ever increasing page count.

*Not that I was a prolific gamer or tv watcher to begin with, but every little helps.

I was originally thinking white or silver myself, but black will likely be a better contrast against the mostly white pages and I was also thinking black end pages will show up the (silver) signature nicely.

The Hardcover of the Epic Bestiary was not meant to have the black border on the front (obviously). That was a printing error by Mongoose who were using my book as the 'pioneer'* for their new printing partner in China at the time. Annoyed me when I got my copies.

*If not THE first then certainly one of the first.

I honestly don't know what I was thinking as regards the solid black back cover on the Bestiary. I probably should have at least dropped a blue-black vertical gradient like the 1E Monster Manual back cover. I probably had too much blurb as well. So don't see myself trying to emulate the layout of the Bestiary back cover with this Ascension print version. Will have a think on it though.

Nothing to be sorry for bud, those of us who love IH have been keeping the lantern lit

That sounds like it'll look nice

Yeah... tbh the huge black border on the IH Bestiary Hardcover version looks pretty jank, that said, you live and learn.

Ironically my Hardcover IH Bestiary is almost in mint condition, it's only been used a couple times. My softcover version however has been repaired with a lot of tape and the cover is delaminating lol

Even so, I keep thinking what could have been.

I'm curious to see what the glossy pages look like in such a book.

I can laugh about it now but I remember sending a few incendiary emails to the staff in charge at the time.

I mean under no circumstances would anyone with any common sense think the irregular black border was intentional. Mondrian would have been proud of those irregular black lines.

My primary hardcover copy (I still have four I think) is dog-eared and shedding cover laminate with a vengeance. Interior still spotless though and the binding has held up really well to be fair.

Part of me still wants to do a Volume 2 (for fun), although I would be totally lost with 3.5E epic right now and I'm knee deep in this 5E book so this isn't the time for daydreaming.

I can imagine you weren't happy, wtf lol

Hey, maybe once you're done with the 5th Ed book. Might be fun. I'm pretty sure Obly and myself and some of the other content creators on here wouldn't mind you putting in some of our creations too, after all we've all put in a lot of hours trying to make IH relevant within the remaining PF and 3.5 community.

C'est La Vie.

It's probably going to look great

🤞

Wasn't a good surprise opening the box of books. I vaguely recall someone from these forums had actually got their copy before me and warned me it was a botched job on the cover.

Hey, maybe once you're done with the 5th Ed book.

Possibly. I just got the art 90% sorted for the Ascension Revamp this afternoon (though circumstances with some of it dictate an extra 3-4 days before I can go to the printing company - So likely not this Friday but the following Wednesday in all likelihood). Didn't take long to do. I will be replacing the two Thor illustrations in Ascension but keeping all my other artwork.

Quite proud of the other artwork in Ascension - my Orcus illustration was used by a Youtuber in one of their videos about Orcus (Mr Rhexx I think it was) and I was pretty chuffed with that. :giggle:

I wouldn't (and likely couldn't) do another 3.5E book without you guys helping.

Now that artwork is not a roadblock to progress it might be feasible to knock out a Bestiary Volume 2 and/or 3. Maybe 33% monsters from this forum, 33% new stuff and 34% conversions (from the 100 monsters in the) 5E Immortals Handbook which I can spread across Volumes 2 & 3. But lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

1. Ascension Print copy (in a week or so).
2. Immortals Handbook 5E (two enormous books when I learn to bend time and space and get them done).
3. We can think about the rest afterwards. 3.5E Bestiary Volume 2 for the 20th Anniversary in 2025 is making me chuckle though.

Oh man, I can imagine. That must have been extremely frustrating

Wow, very quickly approaching, you must be very proud.

Nice! Always good to have your work exalted

Definitely, one thing at a time, still, the offers open and will remain so.

Yeeeeaaah buddy! Nice to see some new life breathed into this franchise. I love IH and can't wait to see its iteration for 5th ed

I am absolutely interested in the copy but I don't have much financial availability at this time. I'll still take a few days to think about it before confirming for my own copy even though I jumped at the thought of a printed version of the official 3.5 Ascension. T_T

You have to take the good with the bad and roll with it amigo.

Wow, very quickly approaching, you must be very proud.

Ascension is 162 pages but might bump it up to 168-176 ish. Have some extra artwork.

Was a nice surprise.

Happy to help however I can

I appreciate it Beefy! ;)

What annoys me is that in 1st Ed. the Monster Manuals and Deities & Demigods would have 4 monsters or gods per page. Now, if lucky I can get one epic monster onto 2 pages.

Imagine I do a book that includes the Umbrals...its going to be 30 pages of shadowy blob monsters, whereas in the past you could probably squeeze that into 5-6 pages in 1st Ed.

Those two books will be amazing...eventually. Just hoping I don't turn it into three books in 2023.

But 5E does appear to be extremely playable at crazy levels* - whereas in contrast I just think 3.5E has WAY too many feats/divine abilities/spells/skills/metamagic and its just going to put typical gamers off...and I know you guys are not typical gamers (neither was I back in my pomp).

*You see a lot of threads where someone says 5E is unplayable at high level, but if you examine what they are saying; 75% of the time its that the monsters are not challenging...mine will be.

No need Obly99 amigo, I will print an extra copy for you and post it to you and we can sort something out when you are in a better financial situation, no hurry or pressure my friend.

I will happily do the same for any of the regular posters here on these forums.

Edit: Eternity Publishing forums I mean. :giggle:
